I've had a PDML folder for incoming mail only for  20 years with no
problems...  but my typing gets worse every second. keyboard shortcuts
provided by whatever software i'm in (or you or anyone) can be killers.
needless to say i have no idea what combination of keys I hit to move
the folder to DRAFTS,..
but I moused it back into my regular inbox... relieved that it was not
something in thunderbird.  It even could ahve been somthng I did with
the mouse...
who knows? It happens when I'm on facebook frequently.. there is some
combo of keys I hit the brings up the underlying code in a side panel
and I have to log out of the game board to get rid of it.

I only have three sub-folders under INBOX - PDML, cafepress sales, and
ebay... it aint complicated.

I couldn't find a price or where to buy one on the website. It may be there, but
it's well hidden.

I've recently assembled this one which Michael had bought a year ago and
never put to any use:

This model is no longer available but its successor, the Helios64, is
and methinks if it works as well as the Helios4 it should be great value
for money:

Re: OT network storage

I believe it uses a variant of Linux for an operating system.

If you can set up individual accounts & password protected folders in Linux, you
should be able to do it with the Synology box.

I'm looking at this one:

I plan to pair it with 5 x Seagate 4TB Iron Wolf drives in a RAID 6
configuration.

Somewhat cheaper in the U.S. because I can get it for $650 USD instead of £650
GBP.

I still need to develop an off-site backup solution as well.

Re: OT: PESOs - Yellow Aloes

2020-06-30 Thread John
I've seen it occasionally & I have a Flickr account. It should also have a
countdown until it will display the photo whenever that ad page pops up.

For some reason it doesn't display the photo (for me) when the timer expires & I
have to scroll right manually ... which means sometimes I then have to scroll
back to see the photo.

I've only seen it since Flickr got sold to SmugMug.

alan - I get a pause between photos when I scroll to the right .. just a black
background with text that says... "upgrade to Flickr Pro to skip these ads"
don't mind that black screen at all. Haven't seen that on the post of others who
are in the US and link to their photos.  Curious

Re: Shade for Tokina ATX PRo 28-70/2.6-2.8? - And some interesting history

2020-06-30 Thread John
If you're referring to the autofocus AT-X PRO 287 (f/2.8 28-70mm), the BH-774
works with it.

It used to be my workhorse lens before the 'a' contact failed and that's the
hood I have.

It fits & is reasonable (although the price may not be)

On 6/24/2020 17:20:31, Igor PDML-StR wrote:

Hi All!

I have misplaced the shade for my Tokina ATX Pro 28-70/2.6-2.8 lens (circa
1996), and I am looking at my options for the replacement.

I know that a few list members have used this lens (at least before).

So, my questions:
1. If you still have it (or the box/manual): what is the original model number
for that shade?

2. I am trying to figure out if the current BH774 (which is listed for 19-35mm
lens) is the same, or at least if it would work on my 28-70.

(It shouldn't cause vignetting, but I wonder if it would fit and be reasonable.)

3. Do you any other suitable options?

And some interesting info: While searching for the specs, I've found this
interesting article about the history of this lens and possible connection to
the Angenieux lens.

https://cameragx.com/2018/04/11/the-truth-about-the-angenieux-28-70-af-zoom/

Re: testing..

2020-06-30 Thread ann sanfedele
So you guys think the test worked... alas, there is an odd annoyance
that attributed at first to communications only invloving email from Dan
when he sent mail using both PDML and my email address. turns out not
so. He just happened to be the first person who replied to me on list
when the problem started.

I have not updated to the latest Thunderbird version (yet) so I guess
that could be causing ths oddity... that is , abug that needed fixing.

I get an ! symbol on the bottom of the mail in bright yellow that says
"A unique identity matching the From address was not found. The Message
will be sent using the current From field and the settings from identity
ann sanfedele "

In otherwords, right now, although my table of contents has the name of
the PDML who responded to me , once I open it, said person disappears
from the "FROM" and is replaced by mine.

I get all the mail, but the little box to click reply or reply list or
reply all does not appear when I open any PDML mail written recently - I
am just typing above what came in..

... and the hot links in the incoming PDML mail don't work..

anyone know what could be causing this?

ann
