Icelandic TV at its best. Sadly, the actor playing the main character in that

Promptly gone back into the COVID-cave for the (un)foreseeable future.
Too much anxiety all around, and besides: wearing a mask while
shooting causes the viewfinder to fog up annoyingly often. Also fogs
my reading glasses while trying to review shots on the tethering
notebook. And I had to keep considering if I was too close to the
model even though I chose a short tele for distancing.

Working with the vintage 6x7 105mm 2.4 was a dream. Lovely lens.

645Z, SMC Takumar 67 105mm f:2.4 at f:2.4, 1/200th sec, ISO 1600; handheld.

Lights were the strobe's modeling lamps, diffusers and a big silver
reflector. Also ambient room light was lighting the background.

Enjoy!

That is almost quite charming. Her right shoulder and arm could have
been better placed though. The pose gives her a somewhat disassembled
and put back together incorrectly look.
I did check her MM portfolio as well as her personal portfolio to ensure
she wasn't built like Quasimodo.
She most definitely isn't.

Most definitely not; I can attest to that. :-) Yeah, it's tricky
shooting down on a subject from a rickety apple box while manually
focusing and keeping mask-induced fog out of the viewfinder.
Definitely some foreshortening distortion resulted from that angle.

Thanks for looking, Bill!

I'm not sure if it's forshortening, especially with the 105 on the 6x7.
That's not an especially long lens.
She definitely has her right shoulder lifted up, which has caused her to
look more than a little hunchbacked, she also has her right elbow broken
inwards. It gives her entire right side a rather misshaped appearance.

This is not to say I would have done better. I wouldn't have.
This is one of those situations, Bruce, where the better you do, the
more we expect.

From you, we expect perfection based on your past performance. :)

A lot of my photos from Kuwait in 2004 had a distinctly orange tint to them from

If I use the eye-dropper tool in Camera Raw to select the sky as a neutral

We've had occasional small earthquakes around here, but the only one I remember
experiencing was the August 2011 earthquake in Northern Virginia.

I remember it as a low rumble that rattled my windows. IIRC it lasted about 2
minutes, building up slowly & then tapering off. About half way through I had
the sudden realization that I was hearing & feeling an earthquake.

The Wikipedia article about it mentions all the states on the Atlantic Coast
*except* North Carolina.

It even mentions the earthquake effects on mid-western states Ohio, Illinois,
Indiana, Michigan, Wisconsin, and Minnesota ...Canadian provinces Ontario,
Quebec and the Maritime provinces along with Kentucky & Alabama, but nary a
mention of North Carolina.

We sit atop something called the Peapack Fault. Every 5-10 years we

I like the shadow patterns and the way the brightly colored flowers on the
right contrast the darkness of the shadow area on the left.

Re: PESO: Dragonfly

2020-09-11 Thread mike wilson
Either an immature male Sympetrum striolatum or a male Sympetrum vulgatum. Saw
one myself last weekend. Around here, it's a bit late for the former but the
latter is really rare. I still can't decide which one it was.

The Artificial Intelligence program of the Dutch nature observation
reporting site waarneming.nl shows > 99 % assurance for your picture
that it is the striolatum ("bruinrode").
The vulgatum ("steenrode") species may be recognized by their long
"drooping mustache".

Of course I haven't reported this one.
