I had a similar experience with a Tamrac bag I had for years. I send my bag to

PESO 2020 - 215, 216 - GDG

2020-09-18 Thread Godfrey DiGiorgi
Two rather different photos today.

The first is an exposure I made walking about Santa Clara several weeks ago,
trying out the Hasselblad 500CM with the CFVII 50c digital back from the 907x.
I was interested to see how well my classic old Planar 80mm f/2.8 T* lens
performed on the 50Mpixel sensor, and pleased with what I saw:

Pipe - Santa Clara 2020 :: https://flic.kr/p/2jHC82C

The second I made yesterday … It was a busy day yesterday and I spent a half
hour waiting while the friend I was helping went through the hoops required to
pick up the truck she needed for work from the rental company. While I was
sitting in the car waiting for her, my eye was attracted to the minimalism that
a simple conduit expressed in terms of light, form, and shadow:

Conduit and Wall - San Jose 2020 :: https://flic.kr/p/2jHFUSs

This one was made with the Light L16.

Enjoy!

Yes, the pre-M10 Ms all seemed to have this odd ambiguity about what button
commits a menu adjustment. And the menu organization, even if not particularly
large, is oddly partitioned. They cleaned up a lot of this stuff with the M10
models on the M line, brought it closer into line with the Q, SL, and CL
models.

I haven't had to spend too much on smoke and plague masks. I have four reusable
plague masks, which double as smoke masks. The smoke is very greatly reduced
the past two days already in the SF Bay Area, with AQI hovering between 12 and
40. The plague … well, I wear masks when I'm in public near people and when I
go into stores. I don't wear masks for plague when I'm walking or riding by
myself with no one near me; I did wear a mask when riding last Friday and again
on Monday... :)

Ah, different location in the menu system on typ 262 models with an LCD:
In the English section of the German/English manual, p128 describes the main
menu and the 'picture parameters' menu. The latter includes the lens profiles
and user profiles settings. Page 162 describes the User Profiles submenu, with
all of the Management submenu functions as described above.

If I were to buy another M body, I'd likely pick one of either the M10-D or
M10-M. I'd be looking for more of a niche use camera, and both of these have
enough different about their features that they would satisfy that criteria.

But I'm unlikely to buy anything more for a while yet. I'm pretty happy with
the gear I'm using now and don't feel motivated to spend much money on more for
the present. :)

OT Peak Design bags

2020-09-18 Thread Toine
I have an old Peak Design messenger v1 bag and after many years the zipper
broke. It was ready for the recycle bin and then I remembered their
garanteed for life. Lost my paperwork, tried their website and within one
hour and two pictures of the bag and its serial number hidden inside the
bag it was done. Two days later I got a brand new bag.
I'm stunned and now I got more of their stuff like a slide belt.
I once purchased an extended garantee on a Siemens and halfway the garantee
period the contraption broke and Siemens claimed repairing was no option. I
could get a coupon on a new one to be purchased in their company web shop.
In the EU thats legal!

Good stuff. Nothing like a bit of wobbly flesh for scaring the viruses away.

During the strictest lockdown in London my regular weekend bike ride took me up
to Muswell Hill then downhill past Ally Pally where those photos were shot.
With no traffic around at the time I could hit 40mph going down the hill, but
you have to be careful because there are trafic lights at the bottom, and you
never know, even in lockdown...

The glow is a nice touch!

Despite being avid mushroom gatherers (and eaters), we've never gathered
any of this type. Of all the mushrooms growing on trees and stumps,
we only gathered Armillaria - which we liked a lot! Those are tasty
and easy to handle, as they are almost never damaged by larva ("worms").

(Fun fact: in Russian, sulphur shelf/sulphur polypore mushrooms are
called "trutoviki", which shares the word root with "truten'" - drone
bee; this root means "parasite". These mushrooms are sometimes
regarded as "sanitarians of forests" that help keeping the forests
healthy, but seen as "pests" in personal gardens, as they ensure a
quick death of your favorite fruit tree.)

That was a struggle to find, being referred elsewhere in the manual then having
to go to the next page before they tell you it’s the ‘Set’ button, not ‘Menu’.

I do intend to buy one of the LCD-less Ms at some point within the next few

I noticed that the spacing between the 2d and 3d floor windows (1st and 2d
floor in British terminology) is peculiar—the top of the lower one and the
bottom of the upper one overlap. It must be a peculiar stairway.

"Time flies when you're having fun ...*"

There's a second "shadow" there in case you hadn't noticed it. The placement of
the windows suggests there's a stairway inside the building just off to the left
of where the external stairway is located.
