I've seen two of them at the VA Hospital in Durham, one down in Radiation
Oncology and one just this last week in the Ear, Nose & Throat clinic.

The doctor in ENT used it to look at my sinus (post surgery followup).

But I think the unit they had down in whatever department where you have to go
for for colonoscopy was an Olympus - I really didn't get that close a look at it
because I was already sedated and very soon after I got in there I was asleep.

I'll try to remember to take photos next time I have an appointment in Radiation
Oncology or at the ENT clinic.

It would be using the letter of the law to circumvent the spirit of the law.
When I inserted that clause into the submission guidelines, cell phones
barely existed, much less had but in cameras.

I know people have been using Pentax lenses on other cameras. Some people even
butcher the lens mounts.

How is this any different?

Not that it matters to me one way or the other because I'm in such a slump I
can't even take photos with my Pentax lenses mounted on my Pentax cameras.

OTOH, the VA Hospital has a number of Pentax Medical Imaging Systems. Radiation
Oncology has one and the Ear, Nose & Throat has one and the doctor used it to
examine my sinus just this week (follow-up) from my sinus surgery last month.

I thought I had photos of it to share here, but I must have taken them with my
phone and deleted them in a fit of madness. I can't find them anywhere on my
cameras or computers.

It’s not just the temperature, it’s the rate of change of the temperature.

I’m glad you liked them.

I went out for a bike ride today, brought my camera. It was interesting to
note that just seeing a child’s bicycle in the rubble had about as much
emotional effect on me as seeing the rubble of the house it was at.

I think that I got a couple of decent shots, I’ll post the album when I can.

Re: Afterburn GESOs

2020-09-19 Thread Daniel J. Matyola
The "Afterburn" gallery is an excellent collection of documentary images.
Photographically, 53753 really stand out to my eye.

I like the "Loss" gallery much better. The images are moving and
evocative. The stand-outs for me are 53227 and 53267.

Fine work, as always!

I hope life is getting back to "normal" out there -- whatever normal is
these days.

When I inserted that clause into the submission guidelines, cell phones
barely existed, much less had but in cameras.

Something that I forgot to mention:

In explanation of one of the signs, while CalFire did an amazing job fighting
the fires, they realized that they did not have the resources, when it started
to fight the fire in the Bonny Doon area. Almost all of the firefighting done
in that area was by locals, breaking the law to be there to defend their
houses, though they did get some help/guidance from the pros.

People recover from this all of the time. For the past several years I have
had at least one friend a year lose everything due to fires. We were incredibly
fortunate that the winds were relatively calm

People have been posting that various insurance companies have been sending out
notices that they are declining to renew fire insurance,.
