2020-09-22 Thread Rick Womer
Thanks, Ann!

I’m experimenting with cropping; it’s tricky to do without losing context. Stay
tuned.

“Jobs” and “assignments” (and “pickups”) are synonymous in this context, from
what I have heard and read. (If Knarf was still here, he could fill us in).

Re: Peter Turnley - the human face of COVID-19

2020-09-22 Thread Bob Pdml
I’ve been following him and his brother Peter on Instagram as they’ve posted
from Paris and New York. Peter has had a number of exhibitions of his lockdown
work, including Les Rencontres d’Arles. It has been fascinating to see how they
develop the pictures posted on Instagram into a coherent body, and how much
time and effort goes into their work, not the least of which is how they
interact so successfully with strangers on the street as well as professionals
in the front line.

I have been a keen user of LZ since its first days. I have learned photo
processing using it. LZ Project (the living sequel) has also been fine. I
had to leave LZP due mostly to my software driver problems. I do not know

using Linux (also available for W. ). Learning İt takes time for sure. I
consider it time well spent. Bulent (on

Re: PESO - Leap, fauxlarized

2020-09-22 Thread Bruce Walker
It's less tricky using digital curves adjustments (rather than
development timing and turning on lights), but it still requires
plenty of fiddling around. Finding the point where I want to apply the
knee where positive tone mapping becomes negative is the hardest part.
But I realized that I can use dodge to shift different parts of
the shot into and out of negative and suddenly it starts to get even
more creative!

Thanks, Ann!

I’m very interested in hearing how it works for you. The one that I’ve been
looking at that runs on Linux is darktable

Interesting, thanks. I’m in a no man’s land operating-systems-wise at the
moment since early this year when windows finally outbloated my laptop and I
replaced it with Linux, so it will be interesting to see how that plays in
Linux.

At some point I’ll probably bite the bullet and buy a mac or windows box, but
there’s no hurry.
