Larry, your friend did very well, but it is high tech stuff with a 
telescope. Toine's effort is perhaps the best possible with normal 
photographic equipment. It will be interesting to see what Paul can 
conjure up if the conditions are favourable.

PESO: Jupiter/Saturn Convergence.

A minor miracle here - the clouds opened! This is my effort. Also 3 
moons visible.


Shot at 170mm. The 500mm shots were "elongated". Will try again with the 
Astrotracer tomorrow, clouds willing.

Somehow I doubt that any camera will be enough so that one of my photos sells 
for a million bucks 35 years after I die.  I can barely sell them 45 years 
after I started photographing.

It’s a fun photo.  I saw something where flickr is doing a contest for your 
best worst photo, that would be a perfect candidate.

Just think, if their camera just had the film run horizontally they could have 
had any aspect ratio they wanted without loss of quality.

PESO recycle bin or keeper?

I forgot to select a shorter shutter speed. On closer inspection the
head of one of the birds is in focus. I kinda like it because of the
yellow acrobat in action.

Yes those are 3 of it moons. no 4 is hiding in front or in the back of
Jupiter. The naked eye view is more impressive (if you know what you
see).

Cloudy here till wednesday but i did manage to view them with my old Wild
T1a survey transit on a clear Thursday night. Some atmospheric waves most
likely from the -11C temps but every now and then they stopped for a second
and i could make out Saturn's rings, Jupiter was just a big glowing ball no
bands notice, still pretty cool
