Gallery of 15-30 photos

2022-03-27 Thread Larry Colen
On facebook someone was asking about the 15-30. It turned out that I had
already made an album of some photos I had taken with the 15-30 at night, and I
added a few more stretching the definition of night to duskish. It turns out
that most of my reasons for the 15-30 are more about versatility (zoom,
reasonably fast, reasonably wide, and weather sealing) rather than absolute
technical ability. It doesn’t matter how sharp the lens is if I can’t use it
to take the photo I’m trying for.

I bought it when I bought my K-1, because to me the main technical advantage of
the K-1 was faster lenses at wider angle of view than I could get with an APS
body. I.e. there wasn’t a 10-20 that was f/2.8 or faster in APS.

Aside from nerding out about the gear, I think I have gotten a few decent
images with this lens.

Thanks, Larry & Rick. He got up shortly after I took those shots & was
limping along, so not such a happy chappie after all.

Great stuff, Subash. Good to see the PDML representative is a less

PESO: Where the Hail did Spring go?

2022-03-27 Thread Daniel J. Matyola
For a while last week, it looked like Spring weather had arrived. Then,
yesterday we had damp, cloudy weather with short periods of small hail, and
today is cold and windy, with occasional snow flurries.

This is how the hail accumulated yesterday on our wooden deck:

Re: April PUG Countdown

2022-03-27 Thread Stanley Halpin
I had several candidates for Red, I was leaning towards a shot of a faded red
mural on the walls of Herculenium, from a visit with Gianfranco a couple of
years ago. Meanwhile, we headed south a few days ago for a quick visit to North
Carolina for the memorial service for a long-time friend (Meg has known
George's wife Gretchen since they were in 9th grade together, had known George
since he started dating Gretchen over 50 years ago.) Along the way we did some
driving on the Blue Ridge, spotted my Red entry for this month. And now I won’t
be faced with making a quick PUG decision when we get back home!

By the way, south of Michigan, Spring is happening!
