I just went out to give it a try, even though it has stopped raining it was
hazy enough I didn't even bother taking the camera out of the car

Re: DxO or PhotoAI

2023-01-20 Thread Toine
No sharpening in lr. The photoai and dxo plugins work on the original raw
files. In these workflows lr is used for file management and post
processing (for that lr is excellent) they export another dng file. You
could drop lr completely.

What sharpening if any have you applied in LR here as your first step?
I noticed that considerable improvement in sharpness can be obtained with
Affinity Photo after processing in LR.
LR and Photoshop are now staying behind in sharpness and noise reduction
properties compared to these other programs.

I've switched from LR to ON1 Photo RAW, about two years ago. I'm
currently on the 2023 version and I'm happy with the results. The
denoise function in ON1 works wonders on RAW files and even more so on
film scans.

I also have DxO PL6 but I've found I rarely use it and I don't think
I'll upgrade it any further.

PhotoAI is really a no brainer, fast and integrates smoothly in LR. DxO
does an excellent job except sharpening which makes DxO and SharpenAI a
killer combo
