Yes, Larry, harassing the lizards & asses! The combination works well &, as you say, versatile & capable (light too). Several members of the local Pentax group use the 18-270 & some the older 18-250 screw drive too. I use my 55-300 HD on the K5 as a walk-around lens with great success. Never use a tripod. Mac mail and Flickr not playing nice
Flickr sends me notifications when someone likes one of my photos. Those notifications have a link to a thumbnail of said photo. That was only one day after his last PESO posted to the list. I met Dan only once, when he stopped off in San Francisco. But I always enjoyed his thoughtful comments on the pdml, and his fascinating in-the-cockpit photographs from his time serving his country. Re: RIP Dan Matyola
Well, this is certainly sad news. Dan was a genuinely good guy, an unfailingly positive presence here on The List, and a joy to interact with off list. The moderator request queue will never be the same. I can't think of many photographers who had Dan's gift of keeping his photos in their own proper context, neither aspirational nor burdened with anything other than existing, and I admired him for it. Rest in peace, Dan. We'll all miss you. On 5/10/23 7:27 PM, Bruce Walker wrote: Facebook alerted me today of messages about the passing of Dan Matyola, May 2, 2023, at 81 years of age. Re: RIP Dan Matyola
This is hard to write... I knew a bit more about how serious his illness was and the nature of it before he mentioned on the list that he was going to have surgery. We had been sharing our WORDLE answers in emails and in early March he wrote that he ws going in for surgery and why - he asked me not to share that information... (and I won't now either) but it was serious stuff . He was staying optimistic about recovery .. heard from him while he was in hospital.. keeping to light exchanges. Then about 10 days passed without and email but I spotted a "like" from him on one of my photos on Fb so wrote and asked if he were out of hospital... He replied "Just returned home 45 mins ago. Sore all over, but otherwise OK. I will check in when I can." I replied there was no need for him to report just to take care of himself.. and I saw he was making posts to the list.. On 4/27 he wrote: "How are you doing doing? I am ever impressed at how you manage to get along so well in that walk-up apartment. Take care of yourself." He's asking ME how I am.. ! (Dan was one of a number PDML'rs who have climbed 3 flights of stairs to visit me - He was last here in 2019 when Jan Van Wyk came to NY and we had a mini PDML visit and lunch.. ) "While I don't have much pain, I am constantly stiff and sore... " Right now, I am trying to get by one day at a time. Things will improve, but very slowly. I need patience and faith." I was surprised to see Bruce's post.. thought sure he would be back on his feet and walking Blizzard before too long.. so sad. ann On 5/10/2023 7:27 PM, Bruce Walker wrote: Facebook alerted me today of messages about the passing of Dan Matyola, May 2, 2023, at 81 years of age. ... -- %(real_name)s Pentax-Discuss Mail List To unsubscribe send an email to pdml-le...@pdml.net to UNSUBSCRIBE from the PDML, please visit the link directly above and follow the directions.
