Re: Australia - Brisbane and Perth

Hi Patrick

I'm in Sydney and although I've been to both Brisbane & Perth, I don't have a
great knowledge of photographic places to visit there.

In Perth I can recommend Kings Park botanic Gardens - there are some great views
across the Swan River towards the city as well as local flora. A trip to
Rottnest Island is apparently a tourist favourite to see the friendly quokkas -
haven't been there myself, though.  I'm sure the Western Australian Visitor
Centre in Perth city would be a useful source of ideas.

As far as Brisbane is concerned, the Southbank precinct should be worth a visit
but again, the Visitor Centre would be the place to start.

That's exceptionally sad news and a complete shock.  Dan was always a great
supporter of the PUG - I'll miss his contributions.  I hope his portfolio in the

PT suggested a few others and I've included 'Bridges" from his list. I've also
taken up Ann's suggestion and changed 'Feline' to 'Reigning Cats & Dogs' and
changed 'By the Seaside' to 'By the Shore'.

Re the 25th Anniversary Gallery - I realised that April this year was 25 years
not 2023 (maths was never my strongest subject :-( ), so I've deleted it. I'll
try to remember 30 years in 2027

Thanks Bob.  Agree about the barbarism although there was a rumor that it might
have been disassembled for later reconstruction.  I doubt it, though.  I took
many photos of the building over the years trying to get the 'perfect' shot. I
never quite achieved that but this one came closest.

It looks (and apparently sounds) quite similar to the bellbird of eastern Oz but
they are apparently in different genera.

Some years ago during the pre-digital era (remember that?) I was in outback
South Australia when the only camera I had (a Ricoh as it happens) packed it in.
I was unable to replace it until I reached Adelaide a week or two later (another
Ricoh!)

I vowed never to travel without a backup again - and I never have.  I've also
never again had a camera failure when travelling
