http://roman.blakout.net/index.php?/category/87 ^^^ It was worse than last years festivals. I couldn't find works that kept me shooting + workers with their lawn trimmers wouldn't let enjoy peace of mind and actually feel beautiful zenity of the garden. Optio WG-2 delayed shooting abort
Optio WG-2 I like to use for delayed photo sequences, due to being small, water resistant and so on. Whilst I can stop delayed shooting before the sequence started by pressing Power button + menu, once camera starts the sequence it doesn't react to power button + menu pressing any more and only dirty trick I discovered from the manual it to remove memory card in between captures. I wish there is another non-intrusive non-destructive way. When You run underwater photo sequence its not so healthy to open battery compartment until camera is totally dry and it takes time. This is one of these time when I miss that computer Ctrl + ALT + Del combination. http://roman.blakout.net/picture.php?/927/category/84 Ideas appreciated. -- roman.blakout.net K-5 × DA 16-45 × DA 17-70 SDM × DA* 50-135 SDM × FA 50 × FA 35-70 -- PDML Pentax-Discuss Mail List PDML@pdml.net http://pdml.net/mailman/listinfo/pdml_pdml.net to UNSUBSCRIBE from the PDML, please visit the link directly above and follow the directions.

Spring 2013 | Roman Melihhov Photography
http://roman.blakout.net/index.php?/category/84 I'd used K-5 DA 17-70mm with closeup loupes 2× + 10× combined. Side effect of this lens structure is that they only have sharp center of the image and focus is blurring out to the edges. This makes however pinhole effect. Pentax Optio WG-2 high ISO shots creative filters
http://roman.blakout.net/index.php?/category/75 ^^^ I was always so against compact cameras but here I am with my Optio WG-2 in the shopping mall chasing macro closeups and especially that super macro and microscope mode. Most shots are ISO 1000-1600 and despite of assisting LED's on they don't provide enough light to get ISO speed below 1000. Somehow I like it, it fits into pockets or my bag, (not the photo bag)... Apocalyptica I - 2012
http://roman.blakout.net/index.php?/category/40 ^^^ this is one of my attempts to bring post-apocalyptic images. Well, thats fair. Ones who missed K-5 would definitely be delighted by new and improved bodies. Ones (like me) who have it are delighted to spend money on improved SDM lenses. Seems like HOYA period in Pentax history is one dark stripe. To many flaws with SDM lenses prior to 2012 and that saga with initial K-5 sensor stains (is just one I personally remember). Roman Melihhov Photography reinventing *istDL
http://roman.blakout.net/picture.php?/481/category/57 ^^^ well, due to dull weather I 'm into digging my old photo archives from 2006 and found some interesting stuff. It surprises me that Pentax *istDL I had then was actually making quite descent pictures. Problem lays with modern software, neither RawTherapee nor rawstudio that both rely on predefined camera profiles actually have these profiles for *istDL to correctly decode raw photos in flawless colors. ufraw does the job well. This has been shot with FAJ 75-300mm and I'm not quite happy the way that old lens TCA. It has quote strong purple fringe and sharpness isnt so good + very high noise of the camera at ISO 1600. That was inevitable then. I rewerked this photo almost the way I did it in 2006, just added motion trails for the balls. -- roman.blakout.net K-5 × DA 16-45 × DA* 50-135 × FA 50 × FA 35-70 -- PDML Pentax-Discuss Mail List PDML@pdml.net http://pdml.net/mailman/listinfo/pdml_pdml.net to UNSUBSCRIBE from the PDML, please visit the link directly above and follow the directions.
Street Dancers 2006
http://roman.blakout.net/picture.php?/404/category/50 ^^^ this is one of the first action shooting sessions with what I had back in 2006 - bizzarre *istDL - a camera not so suited for action photography and FAJ 70-300mm lens with its slow AF and rather dull contrast. Today it was fun trying to process these raw files in rawstudio - a piece of software that doesnt even understand *istDL camera profile, so I had to manually turn green component to 80% instead of 100 to get some descent color rendition. But I like this photo set. Tokina AF 35-70mm on K-5
I got my Tokina 35-70mm f/3.5-4.5 today from eBay and it's seem to be quite nice lens, despite of its enormous barrel distortion at 35mm I like the way it handles light and very little, close to no TCA, absolutely no vignetting. I'd noticed one thing. K-5 thinks it is PENTAX-F 35-70mm f3.5-4.5 lens. How similar these are. I mean if K-5 tries lens correction for distortion and TCA, how close results would be for Tokina lens. 3rd Party 45° split screens
I'd recently purchased Chinese version of double 45° split AF screen for my K20D from ebay, made by Travor. I didn't expect much of it, and same time I didn't expect to have grease stains on it either, so my installation started with washing it in dish washing liquid as recommended by Katz-Eye. The trick was to avoid getting water stains after blowing off water. I didn't have distilled water so I used Cokin lens paper to quickly absorb liquid before it could leave hard mineral stains. It is clean now and installed. What can I say? It looks as a bit bogus (if not annoying), cos Pentax own AF is quite reliable, perhaps I shall change my mind after macro photos but I don't see any point of buying one even for $22 (postage inclusive). Pentax own white matte has better finish, so it's slight brighter than this one from Travor. Stored my Pentax White matte in case I decide to change it back and I know how to get rid of hard stains it had on it after a 2 years of camera use. Any of you have experiences with split screen focusing screens. How do you like them. Little Venice: Staraja Poljana 2010...
http://roman.blakout.net/?blog=20100411134736 ^^^ Lotsa snow this winter is causing high water in all the places usually dry and green by April. Here's my favorite photographic location about 20 minutes from my home. Dust between prism and focus screen?
I've one hard dust particle stuck to the prism. Blowing doesnt help. Wouldnt want to touch the prism so I managed to blow it to the lower part of the screen where it would less be visible on ground details and so. Focusing screen is clean either. Of course dust on focusing screen doesnt affect captured image but its highly annoying, needless to say that I had this problem with nearly all of my Pentax DSLR's, dust got between AF screen and prism after a short while. Schneider-KREUZNACH D-XENON 18-55mm f3.5-5.6 in samples
http://roman.blakout.net/?blog=20100313141208 ^^^ I never owned PENTAX-DA 18-55mm so I decided to get inexpensive Samsung counterpart from eBay and decided to share. Pros: Price, image quality. Cons: Vignetting (in the upper-left corner greater that upper-right). Perhaps lens hood?! Your thoughts appreciated. -- PDML Pentax-Discuss Mail List PDML@pdml.net http://pdml.net/mailman/listinfo/pdml_pdml.net to UNSUBSCRIBE from the PDML, please visit the link directly above and follow the directions.
