I ordered it with two-day delivery. After doing so, the package sent by OP-Tech
arrived.

If I'd been a little more patient I could have saved myself the cost of the
two-day shipping, but I was not in a being-patient state of mind at the time.
I'll be able to get a refund from OP-Tech.

I have been without an internet connection from Tuesday evening till about an

Re: An OP-Tech experience

I'd try a couple of Google searches - Decatur GA camera stores
Atlanta area camera stores - and let my fingers do the walking; call
'em up and see if any of them have the Op-Tech products you're looking for.

If you find one that's got it, then ask 'em for directions to their
store (if you haven't already found it on Google Maps).

I always buy local when it's possible. It's good for the economy; I
don't have to mess with that stupid internet sales tax and if something

An OP-Tech experience

2013-08-27 Thread Eric Weir

I placed two orders with OP-Tech on August 13 for stuff I wanted to take on the
trip to England---a couple straps, a couple lens and filter pouches, and a
camera body wrap. They were shipped the same day to my daughter's place in
Pittsburgh, where I was going to be visiting during the time they were likely
to be delivered.

The first package arrived August 19. The other has still not arrived. I've
called OP-Tech three times. I explained that I ordered the stuff to take on the
trip. The initial response was, Be patient. The second time I was to get a
call back from the guy who handles online orders. I never got a call back. When
I initiated the call this morning the response was, We are not responsible for
the fact that the package was not delivered.

I like their products. Their customer service stinks.

Re: An OP-Tech experience

If they shipped FEDEX or UPS, they should be able to give you a tracking
number so you find out where it is for yourself.

I'm not so sure if the USPS provides that kind of tracking unless the
shipper pays an extra fee for it. Most won't unless they have an option
on their order page that allows you to pay extra to get it.

It appears unwisely, I elected standard USPS shipping, i.e., w/o tracking. If I
had known that if there were a delay in delivery this is how they would handle
it, I would have elected another method.

Thanks, Steve. That didn't occur to me. I assumed direct purchase from them
would be quickest. That that's not the case became obvious when I called back a
second time today to see if I could place a duplicate order, have it shipped
second-day UPS, and return the first order for a refund if it is ever
delivered. They said, Of course. The catch was it would take them* two days*
to get an estimate of the cost of second-day UPS shipping.

I'll check Amazon.
