We'll see where this goes, but I think you can set "reply to list" as a default. On 6/2/2017 01:37, P. J. Alling wrote: Forwarded Message Subject: Re: Anyone else with Q7? For some reason this is too big for the list? Forwarded Message Subject:Re: Anyone else with Q7? Date: Sat, 3 Jun 2017 10:39:51 -0400 From: P. J. AllingTo: pdml@pdml.net I'm pretty sure they killed the Q because there was no where to go with it. The sensor was already pushing resolution limits, the form factor was already too small for a decent powered battery to improve performance, as well as being less that optimal for heat management. Pretty much any improvement was going to make the camera larger. and it would start to compete with the smaller m43 cameras as it's form factor approached theirs. I hate to say it but the Olympus Pen cameras have better IQ better ergonomics, better battery life, and are only marginally larger, with in most cases a provision for an actual eye level view finder. Currently Olympus only seems to have two current Pen Models, (I remember when they seemed to have hundreds), the PEN F and EPL8. Though the Pen mini was a closer match in size, I don't know when it was discontinued, but here's the camera size comparison. http://camerasize.com/compare/#561,163 This camera and the Q series were pretty much direct competitors, the lenses were slightly larger but the IQ was superior and I seem to remember it having a lower initial price. I had to get three copies of the 02 standard zoom to get a good one. If you put a raynox 150 or 250 in front of the 06 tele you get an excellent tele macro. and if you get a Metx 26 SF-2 you have a really small flash which can tilt and combined with a cheap diffusor doubles as a perfect macro flash. I have no idea why they killed the Q line. I have a complete photo kit in a very very small bag On 3 June 2017 at 00:01, Jostein Øksne wrote: Thanks Toine! The Q-S1 was the latest model but even that's been canned as far as I know. I use my Q (original model) as a take anywhere system - I never leave home without it. The body and two zooms take up almost no space. Pocketability? With the original 01 prime lens it wont fit in the pocket of tight jeans (not that I wear them!) but it can fit into a larger pocket. Once again I failed to reply to the list. Forwarded Message Subject:Re: Anyone else with Q7? Date: Thu, 1 Jun 2017 16:58:43 -0400 From: P. J. AllingTo: Jostein Øksne Every time I was tempted a little voice told me it would soon be as orphaned as the Auto110, and lo now it is. So no I don't have one. I think if I were going to get something in that format, I'd look for an MX-1. At least I could justify to myself at least that it didn't really need a eye level view finder, and the MX-1 is actually a pocket-able pocket camera, which the Q series don't actually seem to be, at least if a lens is mounted.
