exposed at ISO 100, f/5.6-f/8, exposure times between 1/5 and 1/30

bracketing in Av mode. Processing was performed using Lightroom and
Photoshop CS2. Output for the web was done using Lightroom's Web module.

Your comments and critique are much appreciated.

Some very nice shots, Godfrey. I think I like #1 and #5 the best.

Love them all, particularly Tree #112.

2007-05-14 Thread Godfrey DiGiorgi

All were taken with the Pentax K10D and DA21/3.2 Limited lens, most
exposed at ISO 100, f/5.6-f/8, exposure times between 1/5 and 1/30
 second.

Thanks to everyone for the compliments and all the comments. I'm back
from my weekend away with a bunch of photos to process but I thought
I'd roll the comments on this set together and answer anything that
seemed a question.

From: Michael Levy [EMAIL PROTECTED]
No comment except to say I wish we lived closer, I'd sign up for
 post-capture lessons!

:-) I'm beginning to promote training digital image processing
classes and system setup for same as part of my business now. I've
gotten a lot of requests from other photographers, locally, to show
them how to get results like my prints. Needless to say, I'm very
happy to hear such flattery.

From: Steven Miller [EMAIL PROTECTED]
Several of the trees (3,5,6) have a fairly humorous quality to
them. They appear surprised (or perhaps affronted) to be having
their pictures taken. I'd expect this in street photography, but
not nearly as often with trees.

Thanks Steve! I am enjoying my trees, I enjoy seeing their
expressions and finding ways to capture the expression. It's a bit
anthropomorphic, but fun anyway.

From: Bob W [EMAIL PROTECTED]
Two or three very good ones there, Godfrey. 103 and 119 stand out, and
remind me a little of some of Jem Southam's work. The others seem a
 little ordinary by comparison.

I hadn't heard of Jem Southam so I looked him up. Some very
interesting landscape ideas, thanks for the reference!

From: Boris Liberman [EMAIL PROTECTED]
... I noticed that your recent galleries were produced by LR. May I
ask why? I mean what made you prefer LR to other technologies
 you've been using?

I've been experimenting with Lightroom's Web module to output these
past few temporary collections because it is fast and easy to do. I'm
not sure yet that it meets my needs ... the code it generates is
somewhat more difficult for me to edit afterwards and put the other
things I want for www.gdgphoto.com ... but it's good enough for a
quick presentation like these. Prior to this, I produced quick
galleries with iView MediaPro and/or Apple's HomePage utilities: I
find Lightroom's quick galleries to be both easier to make and nicer
to look at.

Again, thanks for all the comments.

Godfrey
