Re: LED on camera light
Ken, there's no comparison between the smaller LED light units and a hotshoe flash; the flash is many stops brighter. I compared my 160-LED unit with an AF540 flash using a lightmeter and got this: LED full brightness at 2 feet: F4.0 (125th sec, ISO 200) AF540FGZ (zoomed all the way) 1/1 at 2 feet: F90 1/64 at 2 feet: F11 F90 is not a typo. Focused flash is very bright. On Sun, Oct 27, 2013 at 8:01 PM, kwal...@peoplepc.com wrote: Thanks Mark. I can't find the GN for the unit I ordered so I'll have to see how it performs for myself. MPO - I use an LED light source off camera mounted next to a Pentax 540. Seems the birds at my feeders prefer a constant light (faster AF too!) with an occasional flash than a flash out of the dimness. Best sky colors are at dawn and setting sun. Don't ask to see examples. Working on being competent. I have the same one as Igor (Neewer CN-160). So far, I'm quite pleased with its performance; it throws lots of light at full power.
