I did something different and was a bit surprised it worked. Shot 5.6 in
shade. Shot came out dark, but not so dark flower couldn't be seen (might not
work as well with a darker flower). Brought up a bit with highlight shadow and
bingo background was dark. I may try that again.

Thanks, Dave.

First I really loved it. Second, the way you prepared the photo to show it

seeing it.

Hey, thanks, Manuel. :-)

I used the Tamron SP 90 2.8 Macro. Only lens I've had both in Pentax mount
and Canon mount (this was Canon mount.) Does nice macros and makes a pretty
decent portrait lens too (non-macro).

Well titled, Marnie. An action shot of a flower in the process of awakening.
In my simplistic world, it may be a bit too much of a wad at this point.

Thanks, Jack.

I guess it might be nice to alternate my more grim shots with some simple
happy shots. ;-) We'll see. Macro is not my forte, though I do mean to do it
more (and somehow never seem to get around to it.)

Well done. An interesting spring awakening. Excellent color,

Why thanks, Paul. beam I don't feel I raved enough about your recent
flower shots, especially First Flower. One gets going quick and going through
PESOs quick and ends up making very brief comments, when one really enjoyed
them.
Well, this one does anyway.

Thanks everyone for looking.

PESO - Iris Awakening

2009-03-28 Thread Eactivist
I've shot more in the last week, last week and a half than I probably have
in the previous five months.

So feel I've used a lot of bandwidth. But one more pic before the weekend.

I shot Cherry Blossoms several times (one time when I took the crows) about
a week ago. Too much light, too much wind.

Inspired by Paul, Doug, and Bruce I went out today to do some Cherry Blossom
macros (I'll have to go through them carefully).

And what did I find? On my tree, half of them have fallen off. A cherry
blossom petal snowfall.

But beneath the tree I found the first Iris. Well, the start of the first
Iris.

Don't even know if it's worth showing with all these good flower shots
around...

Manie,
That is nice with the dark background and opening blossom.
Keep us posted on how it turns out in full bloom.
