Nice attempts ! What was the equipment used? I mostly shoot them when not flying - much higher success rate. Shooting them flying without AF is really frustrating for me. Is there any way to lure them to alight, like one can sometimes lure butterflies to alight on a piece of fruit or some sweetened water? I've found the best time to photograph dragonflies has been in the early morning before the sun rises enough to warm/wake them up - they're almost immobile at that point. I've also had the best luck, in Michigan to seek them out late August/early September. Kenneth Waller http://www.pentaxphotogallery.com/kennethwaller - Original Message - From: "Daniel J. Re: PESO: please do not disturb
Thanks Dan. I don't think there is a way to attract dragonflies and damselflies as these are carnivorous. I just sit still so they get used to my presence. There is always a period they land to rest or eat. My main problem always (as with butterflies) is to have the right lens, either long tele or macro 90 mm. I'm now trying with a Caruba macro extender tube on the K1 with a 70-200 lens but this limits the maximum focus distance. Henk Op 2019-05-31 om 15:38 schreef Daniel J. Matyola: WOW!
