I would assume so.
We use salt to generate the chlorine in our pool, so it may not be quite as
offensive to him as liquid chlorine mixed into the pool water.

Re: PESO: Pool Visitor

2020-06-11 Thread Daniel J. Matyola
He is indeed very big, one of the largest I have ever seen. I
didn't measure him, but he is at least 5 inches long, and quite bulky. He
pretty much fills the bottom of that 5-gallon bucket he is in. He appears
to be a male, by the size of the "ears" compared to the size of the eyes.

The blue areas are color noise or artifacts. I edited this image on my
laptop. and none of that was visible. Now, loo0king at the image on
Squarespace using my desktop, it is not only visible, but horrible! Thanks
for calling it to my attention. I shall re-edit the image when I have an
opportunity.

This guy scared the hell out of my wife a few days ago. he was literally
swimming laps in the deep end of the pool. Lee tried to net him, without
success. She went into the house to ask my assistance, but when I got
there, he was nowhere to be seen. There was no evidence of him for three
days -- either he got out of the pool or was hiding in the plumbing. two
mornings ago, he suddenly appeared in the skimmer when my wife went to
clean it out. Again, but the time I got there, he had disappeared. I
deduced that he was hiding between the entrance to the skimmer and the
basket that collects debris. I had lee hold a large deep net over the
outside of the skimmer while I poked around, using another net, where I
thought he was hiding. SDure enough, he darted out of the skimmer into the
net, and was trapped there when Lee twisted it 90 degrees. I managed to
get him into the bucket, and twice he almost escaped while I was trying to
take his picture.

In the past, we have released frogs into the creek that runs through the
woods to the west of our lot. Three managed to0 return to the pool, one
three separate times. I wanted to remove him permanently from our pool, so
we drove across the highway and across the North Branch of the Raritan
River, where I deposited him on the far bank of the river. I hope the
natural and man-made barriers will keep him at a distance.

Thanks again for looking and for pointing out the ugliness of my rendering.

No, thank goodness. We had a small black bear visit our yard a few years
ago, but it tore apart my bird feeders and stayed away from the pool.

This is the unwanted visitor of the season in our pool. Two years ago we
had a frog that kept returning after I removed it and released it in the
woods near the creek. After three evictions, I took it for a ride in the
car, and deposited it on the far bank of the river about three miles
away. We have also had dead chipmunks in the pool skimmers in the past,
but not this year. The chipmunks aare still here, but I think they are
getting smarter; natural selection, so to speak.

PJ, just because they are driving does not mean that they have a valid
state driver's license.

I have a client who is a legal immigrant with a valid green card and
is working on his citizenship. He has a contacting business, and
hires subcontractors on many jobs. .One of his subs had his truck
impounded, because it was being operated by an undocumented alien
without a valid license from this state. He had a valid license from
Nicaragua, and New Jersey permits him to legally drive in this state
with that license, but only for up to 60 days after becoming a
resident. This particular individual received two tickets for driving
beyond the guest statute period; the third time he was stopped,
their impounded the employer's vehicle. Since the employer was a
friend of my client, I went to municipal court with the driver, got
the charges reduced and a fine paid, and the truck released. I
suspect, however, that he is out there still driving on that alien
license, but for someone else now.

Carolina wren, from the look of the photo; they're ground-feeding
crevice nesters, which probably means they keep finding some gap into
your basement.
