Hope you enjoy this reprise post. Comments welcome.

That's just great. I don't think the slight overexposure on the
foreground foliage detracts - it just helps focus on the birds, which
are quite beautiful.

Waxwing slain? Eww! Poor birdie. Glad these two are alive and
kicking (or perching).

Seriously, thanks for your comments, everyone. I've never seen these
birds before Saturday. At first, because of their crests, I thought
they were female cardinals, but once I saw them in the viewfinder I
knew they were something else. I'm generally happy with the results -
only got a few shots before they flew off.

i'm sure they are Cedar Waxwings; i saw them in Colorado the first time

youth in Maine; which are different enough that i understand the red tip

the only possible confusion would be the Bohemian Waxwing, about which

Sure looks like it to me. THe _Bohemian_ Waxwing has more pronounced
markings on its wings - some little stripes and more evident red

Aren't they wonderful birds? like the geometry though several crops
come to mind that would work too. The greenery is a bit light , and
especially so on the right foreground... I think you can play with this
one a bit and make it extra special...

The only time I had a truly great op to capture them up close was
in NOva Scotia years ago where there were a gang of them in a berry bush
of some sort. but it was much too dark and my film was slow. :-(

They seem pretty tame when they are in a good feeding spot tho.

Good going!

Re: PESO - Cedar Waxwings?

Walt - possibly not often seen together because of their preferred
meals. Waxwings favor berries, robins favor worms... so they would be
most often seen at different levels.

Seeing them together is interesting especially to me because I didn't
realize the waxwings were that much smaller than robins. Rather
rude behaviour on the part of the center waxwing - well, or least it
seems so.
