(a) K1000 - all-manual all the time and it's never let me down.
(b) My boring ol' M 50/1.4
(c) I started college with a K1000 my dad bought used. That got stolen while
on loan to a friend after college and I didn't really shoot much for a long
time, when I did it was with the digital point-and-shoots my employer provided
for documenting stuff at work. When my dad passed away in 2011 I kept his K1000
and started shooting film again because I needed something to help maintain my
sanity, and I've been shooting it ever since.

Occasionally I covet a 67 because I like the 6x7 format (I crop a fair number of
my shots to that) and because I've heard such good things about the glass. On
the other hand I shoot almost exclusively handheld and it sounds like it really
prefers to be on a tripod with the mirror locked up.

For me ?\
(a) Canon G-III QL17. Convenient and sharp. Easy to use.\
(b) Tie: Rollei 35 S (Planar) and Contax T2. But too valuable to hang onto.\
(c) K1000 was 1st SLR. Always enjoyed simplicity + durability. (Same reason

I?ve driven Chevy & Toyota)

Ditto on the Toyotas and Chevys. :-)

My sharpest lens may be the D FA 70-200/2.8, or it might be the K 28/3.5. Hard
to say definitively. But I know which one is more expensive! And heavier.

I turned to Pentax many years ago because I had some screw mount lenses. This
group undoubtedly has had much to do with keeping me in the fold. But hard to
argue with the quality of the glass.

(a) The Asahi Spotmatic I purchased in 1966. It lasted longer than any
other camera, surviving rough treatment on three continents.

(b) The Leica that my father in law gave to his wife and I eventually
inherited. It was clumsy to load and shoot, but produced great images.

(c) The fact that the lenses I bought in the 1960s continued to be useful
in updated Pentax cameras, plus the friendly advice and camaraderie I found
in this group. Over the years, I was able to meet up with about a dozen
list members when travelling abroad, in the City, or on the west coast,
and they always made me feel welcome and helped me enjoy their home
territory.

Generally the one I was using at the time, starting from my first 35mm,
and progressing (via the Spotmatic II I purchased with my first paycheque)
through a range of K-mount gear. But over the years I generally carried
the first of those K-mounts, my trusty old MX, in my camera bag as a second
camera (at least until I had a PZ-1p, an MZ-S, and a stable of AF lenses),
so that's probably the camera I am most attached to. In fact I picked up
a second MX as insurance just to be sure I'd always have an MX available.

> (b) The sharpest 35mm you ever used

I haven't the faintest idea. I've rarely found the technical quality of
the equipment to be the limiting factor in what kind of image I was able
to produce (except for, occasionally, the film speed/sensor sensitivity).

> (c) Why you stuck with Pentax

Because until recently there was no compelling reason to switch brands,
and certainly nothing to make the cost of doing so something I'd consider.
But, as most people here probably know, a year ago I found the weight of
the camera bag I was lugging around was getting to be burdensome, and so
I downsized to a Micro four thirds (Olympus) system. Even with two lenses
which between them cover a wider range than the triple of DA* lenses that
I typically carried my camera bag weighs well under half what it used to.
But I've still got that bag full of Pentax gear all ready to put in the
car as a backup. In fact I checked the battery charge only a few days ago
and found that despite not having even been turned on for over a year the
charge indicator still reads 100%

By 35mm do you mean film? 35mm format (including digital cameras that take
things like K-mount lens?
However we choose to interpret it, even if it is a medium format camera with a
35mm focal length lens?

My favorite of my 35mm film cameras was probably my SRT-102. My first SLR was
my SRT-101 and the 102 had a hot shoe and split prism focusing. The SRT isn’t
necessarily a better camera, but it is so ingrained into my muscle memory that
almost fifty years later I could pick it up and automatically do everything.

> (b) The sharpest 35mm you ever used\

I don’t worry overmuch about sharpest above and beyond “good enough”. My best
body for image quality is my K-1, my favoritest lens is my FA77. I expect that
some of my newer lenses are sharper, probably the best would be my DFA 100
macro.

> (c) Why you stuck with Pentax

For many years there wasn’t anything that worked better, or even as well, for
what I do. There isn’t anything else that would be worth the bother and effort
of changing and learning. a new system for.
