RE: OT cormorant trivia

2010-09-14 Thread Bob W
Having seen my first cormorant (official count is 220 along the 53 km
length of
it) on the 'artificial city lake' portion or the Alster river yesterday, I
googled
that and stumbled upon the fact that the cormorant was chosen as 'Bird of
the Year' by German environmentalist organization NABU. While I doubt that
this was done in long overdue recognition of the PDML, it is nonetheless
nice
 =)

I've always felt kindly disposed towards NABUlists, no matter where they lie
on the spectrum of NABUkovian thought. Their wise voting habits have put my
instincts on a more scientific footing.

And yet I never quite trust them. After all, having a Bird of the Year
surely implies that there must some years when the cormorant isn't it. And
that won't do at all.

Bob

LOL! That's perfect, Bob.

I must get down to Cormorant Rock in Santa Cruz to do some photography
soon ... :-)

I agree. We need to remain factual though. Let us not blame the
NABUbonic plague on them...

What's OT about cormorant trivia??

For that matter, what could possibly be trivial about cormorants???
