What about the old FA28-105 Power Zoom? The old FA... !?!? For me, anything FA is new. Super-Takumar 70-150mm is old... Just kidding. Andre --
Re: Best value in used pentax glass?
some other real keepers include the M 200/4, which can frequently be found for less than $100 and the Super Multi Coated Takumar 300/4, which is magnificently sharp and sometimes sells for less than $200. Other bargains inclde the SMC Pentax (K) 28/3.5 and of course the SMC Pentax 35/3.5. I have to say, I can't focus the slow 28mms and 35mms, either M42 versions or K versions. I had to get rid of mine. Hence I can't agree to them being particularly good values. (Still haven't found the diopters I need for my Spotmatic bodies.) --Mike

Another vote for the M 135/3.5. I can't speak fot the Takumars (never owned either of them), but they seem a good value too. And they're so small, and cute, and... JCO wrote: My Vote: the 55mm F1.8/2.0 Super-Takumars Great performers (even without SMC) and they sell for less than $15.00 ! I would have to agree with JCO, though I cast my vote for the 55/1.8K, widely available for $30 to $50. I prefer it over my Rikenon P 50/1.4 from f/5.6 to f/16; I prefer my Rikenon from f/2 to f/4. (Forget about f/1.4 with either.) On a related note, someone was listing a pair of Rikenon lenses that included a Rikenon 50/1.4. I asked the seller if it was the P; he said yes. I told him he should say so and possibly sell it separately from the rest of the setup, for it is very hard to find. He thanked me and just withdrew his original ad (http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItemitem=3001728800 ), explaining in the ad that it's no longer available. Uh-huh. Well, I shot myself in the foot. Two days ago I discovered that I had bent my Rikenon's autodiaphragm tab (or whatever), and now it won't close beyond f/5.6. Proving that no good deed goes unpunished... Oh, well. Now I can honestly say I need to keep my Ricoh and my Pentax normal lenses. [EMAIL PROTECTED]

Re: Best value in used pentax glass?
Best value in used pentax glass? Well, how about this: the tiny lens in the new Optio S is (I believe) the first Pentax point-and-shoot lens that has ALL lens surfaces Super-Multi-Coated. (In case some don't realize, lens manufacturers often judiciously leave some surfaces uncoated or single-coated if they feel they can cut the corners. Generally, only premium lenses (and sometimes not even those!) have ALL surfaces multi-coated.) Considering that the whole camera costs what I've paid just for lenses in the past, I could nominate the lens in the Optio S. That's sight-unseen, of course. As far as the best value from my own experience, it's definitely the 50mm f/1.4 Super-Multi-Coated Takumar M42 screwmount lens, the world's only thousand-dollar lens you can buy for sixty bucks. I do love that lens. --Mike

Super-Multi-Coated Takumar 50/1.4, best value for what you get. Can be had on ebay for $30-50. If it were made today, $1000. Steve Larson Redondo Beach, California Everyone has a photographic memory. I'd add the M 28/3.5. When you find one, it's usually cheap. Andre Is it the best of all the slow (F2.8/3.5) 28mms made in Kmount? Supposedly second best, not far behind the K. For a great 28mm it's a bargain. Andre --
