Yes, Paul, it is a consideration but nowhere near as dangerous as it was 
30 years ago. All the fences & pallisades now restrict free movement of 
large wild animals. Lions, Leopards, Elephants & Buffalos are rare in 
town today but there are resident Baboons, Warthog & Hippos to watch out 
for. Foot Safaris (very expensive!) are offered in Kruger accompanied by 
armed rangers. There are probably plenty of photographic opportunities 
in the overgrown town "parks". I just need to be more observant like Dave.
