Works fine in PTTL mode here how did you set the flash?

2007/1/25, Jack Davis [EMAIL PROTECTED]:
Having loaded the K10D firmware, I've been checking wireless flash
using the built in flash and an AF-360FGZ. Can only get it to work in
 either A or M mode. No P-TTL?
BTW, I'm not picking up any pre-flash cross talk as I did (sold it)

Wonder if Pentax will be providing an Owner's Manual addendum for the

Re: P-TTL Wireless?

2007-01-25 Thread Brendan MacRae
Should be P-TTL. Make sure the flash is in slave mode.
Make sure both camera and flash are set to the same
channel. Fn menu should be set to wireless and there's
also a custom setting for firing the built in flash as
master or controller.

Mine works fine in P-TTL in Av mode both in master and
controller settings.

Re: P-TTL Wireless?

2007-01-25 Thread Brendan MacRae
Looks like you're in SL2 mode (at least that's what
it's called on the 540). This puts the flash into A or
M flash mode with wireless. See if you can put the
flash into SL1 mode which provides P-TTL wireless.
Switching between these two modes on the 540 requires
holding the light/format button for two seconds then
pressing the select button to toggle between SL1/SL2.
To save the setting I have to hit the light/format
button again.

Perhaps there's something similar on the 360?

 Subject: P-TTL Wireless?

Having loaded the K10D firmware, I've been checking wireless flash
using the built in flash and an AF-360FGZ. Can only get it to work
 in
  either A or M mode. No P-TTL?
BTW, I'm not picking up any pre-flash cross talk as I did (sold it)
  with the MZ-S.(?)
Wonder if Pentax will be providing an Owner's Manual addendum for
 the
  IQ challenged.

There are directions included in the manuals for the 360 and 540
flashes if you need help again.

Yes, I know. I have the flash manual, but it was a K10D setting I had a
problem with.
FTR,I have an affinity for complicating things.

Well, the first section in this document, which is available via a
link from the firmware download page ...
http://www.pentaximaging.com/files/scms_docs/fw_files/k10d_fw/
K10D_110_Functions.pdf ...
talks about setting up the K10D for Wireless Flash control. The rest
of the instructions are supposedly in the flash unit instruction manual.

I don't own a Pentax flash ... yet.

Must be a shadowed link or something like that. Go to
http://www.pentaximaging.com/customer_care/show_firmware?
firmId=8793673
and at the beginning where it says:

PENTAX K10D FIRMWARE UPDATE VERSION 1.10
 VERSION HISTORY
Version 1.10 (CLICK HERE for a PDF containing more details on these
 changes):

click on the underlined words CLICK HERE. That will download it to
your system.

The document details the changes that the FW update incorporates.

I downloaded this a few days ago, but it's not what it will do, but the
specifics of how it's done.
You may not be current with my responses to this thread, but feel I've
gotten past my mental clog...for now. =)

Thanks again!
