Should be P-TTL. Make sure the flash is in slave mode. Make sure both camera and flash are set to the same channel. Fn menu should be set to wireless and there's also a custom setting for firing the built in flash as master or controller. Looks like you're in SL2 mode (at least that's what it's called on the 540). This puts the flash into A or M flash mode with wireless. See if you can put the flash into SL1 mode which provides P-TTL wireless. Switching between these two modes on the 540 requires holding the light/format button for two seconds then pressing the select button to toggle between SL1/SL2. The rest of the instructions are supposedly in the flash unit instruction manual. I don't own a Pentax flash ... yet. Go to http://www.pentaximaging.com/customer_care/show_firmware? firmId=8793673 and at the beginning where it says: PENTAX K10D FIRMWARE UPDATE VERSION 1.10 VERSION HISTORY Version 1.10 (CLICK HERE for a PDF containing more details on these changes): click on the underlined words CLICK HERE. That will download it to your system. The document details the changes that the FW update incorporates. I downloaded this a few days ago, but it's not what it will do, but the specifics of how it's done.
