Jack, That's a lovely picture and I'd believe you found St. Ansel's tripod holes. Something about it is a bit wierd on my monitor. It looks more like a print - color and detail a bit flat. Thanks, Bob. All I can see that may contribute to what you're seeing, may be the fact that the sun was partially behind the bluff from which this was shot. Sun, essentially, just clipping the tree tops and smashing flat into the Tetons. Please let me know your reaction. Re: Peso-Teton Fall
Jack, This is a very interesting image that made me wanting to go to that area again. As Ken wrote, either a polairizer or some post-processing (presence and/or selective sharpening in LR or unsharp mask in PS, possibly combined with selective (for the blue color) contrast enhancement)) would help removing some haze from the back. That would make this image even stronger. On another hand, I suspect it might then look _differently_. The blocks are there, no doubt. To me it looks like it is more details in the original. Besides this it is a well captured pleasing image. I like the colour mix, nature is good at that ;-) I see you have used 300 x 1,4, that's interesting, using this for a landscape. Well seen. RE: PESO: Teton Fall 'PeaK'
Thanks for comments, Tim! Those blocks are curious. A loosy jpg, but still not opened enough to have started showimg artifacts..I don't think. Original is a large scan showing good detail. Teton peak was what I focused on and with that lens set up, I found I couldn't just set it on infinity and expect it to be the optimum focus. I've read, and believe, that in the case of this elk of lens, temperature can cause a variation in the focus. I've set the pre-focus stop at times, but never leave it for very long without checking.
