Re: WG-1
I'm usually incredibly anal about checking that there is nothing compromising the seals but have to admit, on this occasion, I failed to do so. I can find nothing wrong with the camera at all but it ended up with a tide mark halfway up the LCD. Even then, if it had been fresh water there might have been a chance - pool water is catastrophic for electronics. > On 21 May 2017 at 18:28 Zos Xavius <zosxav...@gmail.com> wrote: > > > Did one of the seals fail? WG-1
I discovered last weekend that my WG-1 is, sadly, less W than I would have liked. Much puzzling over the dismantling prodecure led me to our favourite search engine for an hour or so, where I eventually found the following page. https://www.ifixit.com/Teardown/Pentax+Optio+WG-1+GPS+Teardown/36657 Mine is not the GPS version, so I can testify that this procedure works for other variants. If you want to take the front cover (the anodised metal thing) off, you need a T5 Torx driver as well as the number 0 Philips for the rest of it. My example is decidedly toasted. Not only is there corrosion on electronic components, a couple of the ribbon connectors disintegrated as they were disconnected. I therefore have an almost complete set of non-electronic spares for anyone who might need them. -- PDML Pentax-Discuss Mail List PDML@pdml.net http://pdml.net/mailman/listinfo/pdml_pdml.net to UNSUBSCRIBE from the PDML, please visit the link directly above and follow the directions.
Option WG-1
BJs Wholesale Club is advertising the Option WG-1 camera in this week's flyer for $249.99, $50 off their regular price, if anyone is looking for one. I was looking at this as a new carry everywhere camera and it seems nice. the only thing that seems a bit off is that if i drop it from eye level the warranty does not cover it. seems a bit chintzy to me.
