I can count (with the help of all my fingers and toes) the number of
frames I've taken with my *istD since getting the K10D.

The last time I took it out was to have it as back up when I shot a

Re: Who here is using the oldest DSLR?

2007-12-10 Thread Joe Wilensky
I purchased an *ist D last March when the price of the body only
dropped to $400 on Amazon (through Cameta). I already had a K100D, my
first DSLR, purchased in September 2006. I picked the *ist D up to
use as a second body and to keep at work -- I also had the idea that
while I may someday replace the K100D, there might be some historical
and collector satisfaction in having Pentax's first DSLR.

As per John's note below, does anyone else use the FA 28/2.8 as the
main lens or one used most often on the Pentax DSLRs? I often choose
it for the slightly wider field of view than the 35/2 even though
it's a stop slower (I have the 21/3.2 as well). I thought having the
21 and the 35 would mean that I wouldn't use the 28 as much, but I
often find it's either the perfect choice (or the perfect compromise).

28mm is a great single-lens setup for the DSLRs. Once I had the FA43

Since I tend to sell off anything i'm not actively using, I sold it
(along with my *ist DS bodies and other unused lenses).

Using? Sure. Using as my only DSLR? No. But if I'm going out of
the house and just carrying a single camera it's more likely to be
the *ist D with the 18-55 than anything else. A quick look at the
images in my PAW gallery show that in the first six months after I
got the K10D I used that camera almost exclusively, but since then
it's been pretty much an even split between the K10D and *ist D.

I'm still pretty happy with my *ist-Ds purchased in the spring of 2005.
Anyone here still using a(n) *ist-D?

I've kept mine as a backup, or for when I need two lenses mounted at the
 same time.

My ist D sees regular use, though the 645 and MZ-S are my preferred cameras.
