Great set - Chicago offers a lot of photographic opportunities. The
geometry in #7 is excellent.

The issue I have here is that I've now got an 80s song stuck to my brain, and
there is no way I can get rid of it.

Other than this, that groove doesn't seem to have taken long to get into. I
particularly like the one with the backs and the C**on.

Re: geso just a aimless photowalk

2016-06-06 Thread Christine Aguila
Thanks, Paul! I like 6 as well but for nostalgic reasons. I don’t know if you
remember when I shot the construction site at work for a couple of years. That
project was such an important moment in developing my skills—and, more
importantly, I immediately came to love photographing the subject. I’d love to
do another construction photo essay, but it’s tough to do without the onsite
access I was able to secure with that shoot.

I’ve never done a book of the construction photos, but this summer I hope to do
a photo book for myself—it’s on the list of summer projects, which is growing
by the minute—and looking less likely to fully complete due to the list’s long
length, and the summer’s short length :-).

Re: geso just a aimless photowalk

2016-06-06 Thread Christine Aguila
Boy all your points are spot on—and energizing!

—especially, your point about holding off a bit . . . at a distance . . . et
al. It was almost as if I could see myself do exactly that as I was having my
casual photo walk.

You know that expression “do you feel me?” Well, it was as if my camera asked
my eye, "do you feel me?”

—and my eye responded, “not quite yet.” :-)

The subject of 10 came into view quickly and startled me a bit so I reacted too
quickly, yet with uncertainty, and lately I’ve been shy to photograph people,
though I can’t explain why. I have some theories, but I haven’t quite voted on
any of them just yet :-). Looking at the shot later, I was quite surprised it
was in focus.

I’m hungry to do some nice black and white photography this summer. I really
want to step up my game and bring stronger emotion to my photographs.

Thanks, Godfrey! I shall most definitely keep going.

Cheers, Christine

The issue I have here is that I've now got an 80s song stuck to my
brain, and there is no way I can get rid of it.

Other than this, that groove doesn't seem to have taken long to get
into. I particularly like the one with the backs and the C**on.

Christine, while not my genre photography wise, I appreciate the technical
aspects of these images. My fav is the backside of the two wearing backpacks.
Well done.

I'd say you were well into the groove young lady.

Always a great pleasure to view your photographs. Your rendering and
quality of presentation is outstanding. X

2016-06-06 Thread Godfrey DiGiorgi
I don't think you have anything to worry about, Christine. They all look pretty
groovy to me. :-)

A nice set from a casual walk. Looking at them as a group, the sense of you
feeling out your eye comes through: you're holding what you see off a bit, at a
slight distance, a little tentative and objective. And yet, the attraction to
shape, to geometry, to lighting comes through clearly.

In number five I see you become fully engaged in the scene, ten a little less
so.

Step in closer. Open your arms and embrace the vision. Keep on going!

G

(You've inspired me. I just pulled out the M-P, fitted the 35mm lens, and set
it to my usual B config.. That's my camera to carry today, no bag. :-)

Not as aimless as you might think. Some very appealing shots there. I would
have to travel to Sandton in Jo'burg to see anything like that.
