Re: [perl-win32-gui] Using Timer feature

1999-05-11 Thread Indy Singh

There was a small bug in the Win32::GUI code which prevented the timer
function from working reliably.

If anybody need a fixed binary for ActiveState build 515, you can download
if from www.perl2exe.com/GUI.dll . Copy this file to
c:\perl\site\lib\win32\GUI.dll or wherever your perl is installed.

Maybe the problem is with NT then. I also have NT 4.0 SP3 at work (the
Pentium 233) and it doesn't work. I also have a Win95 machine (that's the
Pentium 90) at work that I have the same script on and it works on that
one.

That's a real drag.

 Jonathan,
Remember when I suggested you use a timer, I explained that I could not
get it to work. I was surprised when you sent me code that was
essentially identical to mine. Surprised because yours worked and mine
did not. I have a 350 MHz Pentium II at work running NT 4.0 SP3. I
then tried it at home, AND IT WORKED!! At home I have a 133MHz 486DX4
 running Windows 95. Go figure.

So to make a short story long, yes I have also seen this peculiar
 behavior.

Check
the version of GUI.pm you are using on both machines. I had to fall back to the
2.0 release as the 3.0 version timer doesn't work for me.

Thanks,

Phil

Well this is weird. I got the timer
feature to work with no problem on a Pentium 90. I used the exact same
script on a Pentium 233 and it doesn't work now.

This is a really odd quirk. Anyone else
not getting it to work on their Pentium machine?
