On YouTube there are 3 guys that have their own channels: phonophan, Phono
Phan, and Phonophan58. So I guess it’s not that unique an idea for a nickname.

CONFERENCE PROGRAM
ARSC is dedicated to the preservation and study of sound recordings -- in
all genres of music and speech, in all formats, and from all periods.
Reflecting this broad mission, the upcoming conference offers talks and
sessions that will appeal to both professionals and collectors.

This year's plenary sessions are: "ARSC at 50: A Retrospective" and "The
Jazz Legacy of Indiana Avenue."

Session topics include:

-- Large Scale Media Digitization, Parts 1 and 2
-- IRENE and Other Digitization Issues
-- Archiving in the Digital Age
-- Playback and Restoration
-- Indiana Talent
-- Artists & Repertoire
-- Cylinder Research
-- Record Labels & Research
-- Recorded Sound History Revisited
-- Legal and Ethical Issues in Recorded Sound
-- Folklife and Ethnomusicology
-- Oral Histories, Interviews, and Communications
-- Collaborative Initiatives.

The Library of Congress National Recording Preservation Board funded the
international speakers for the Large-Scale Media Digitization sessions. For

The fun continues after the sessions. Post-session events for the conference
include a Thursday evening tour and reception at IU's new Media Digitization
and Preservation Initiative facility (sponsored by Memnon).

On Friday evening, conference attendees are invited to attend a special film
screening at the IU Cinema, a world-class THX certified venue, to see gems
from film collections at Indiana University and the Library of Congress.

For this year's annual Friday-night roundtable, participants are invited to
bring a crate of records they would like to sell or trade, and/or a record
or two for show and tell. There's no special theme, just plan on some fun
records and interesting discussion.

The preliminary conference schedule (subject to change) can be viewed at:
