Yes, but the guides don't always work--like with 35mm pinhole pictures where the image extends into the sprocket holes and you want to scan the whole thing. Or when running 35mm film through a medium format camera (same issue with sprocket holes). You can automate things so that, by using the guides, it will recognize the images and offer them to you already selected. This allows you to scan them in batches, which I did with a few rolls of slides I took in Spain. The results were excellent, so not using the guide hands you a bunch of disadvantages. DAlfrey, When I put my negs on the scanner bed without using the guides, I get those circles from the negs touching the glass. Does that happen to you?
