I would like this site to remain up, too, as it serves as an excellent
teaching tool.

I agree with Ms Garfinkel about hoping the site can remain up for some
time .
I too, enjoy looking at the works over and over, in fact I never tire of
it,
Even though the submission is closed, I continue to encourage all around
me,
to go see the site, time and time again, people have thanked me , but I
believe the real thanks goes out to the teams that made this all possible.
Thanks Gregg. Zernike, and so many others who made this all a wonderful
 experience,

I'm sentimental tooit was great fun thinking about everyone making
pinhole images on the same day...reminded me of family Passovers...a seder
all over the world and in every country.. made the singular experience of
remembering a communal spirit...looking forward to next year and maybe I'll
figure our how to scan the image the right size...thanks Greg and all, Renee

I second these comments, I hope we leave this up for a while. Its a great
reference and looking at the photos breaks up a tough workday. I feel a
little sentimental as well. What a great job everyone did!!! - Thanks to
everyone who participated! Its so cool that we can share with people all
over the world. :-) Wendy Garfinkel

[pinhole-discussion] The WPPD1 complete exhibit

2001-06-01 Thread Gregg Kemp

Hi all,

It has been a month since the first worldwide pinhole photography day on
April 29, and all during the month of May, pinholer's have been uploading
their photos to the pinholeday.org web site gallery. The doors closed at
midnight (GMT) last night and we ended up with 291 photos from 291
participants from 24 countries. Nice going, guys!

This event originated from the members of this list - this family of
pinhole enthusiasts from around the world, and we should all feel very
proud of what we accomplished in making this happen. I would like to thank
(one last time) everyone who contributed to it's success - not only the
members of the coordinating team and translators (listed at
http://www.pinholeday.org/org/?page=team ), but each of you who posted an
announcement at your local photo stores, community bulletin boards, on the
internet, etc) All of these things helped significantly. I feel confident
that there will be a WPPD 2 next year (April 28) and with everyone's help,
it will be even bigger and better.

I personally can't help but feel a lot of pride in being a part of our
pinhole family. I also feel inspired by the turnout of people who
participated in pinhole day - expressed in the diversity, imagination, and
quality of the images made that day. Anytime you need a boost in life,
just visit the gallery as a reminder of what you can do, and who your
friends are.

(forever at risk of sounding sentimental),

Gregg
