This must be because totem starts gnome-settings-daemon. As of
gnome-control-center/capplets-data 1:2.20.3-2, the settings daemon will
not be spawned automatically through dbus, so this should be fine now.
Could you confirm this fixes your issue?

Bug#462942: gdm: strange behaviour ceased

2008-02-23 Thread Dariusz Szczepanek
Package: gdm
Followup-For: Bug #462942

Hi, thanks for the followup.

GDM suddenly stopped doing this for me too some time ago, although I'm
not sure why. I updated the kernel a while ago, did some apt upgrades a
few times since then, but no idea if there's any connection.

I have some similar messages in /var/log/gdm, and i _don't_ have
x11-xkb-utils installed, but the problem isn't there anymore. Mighty
confusing.

Thanks,
D.Szczepanek

Bug#467203: gdm: Runs shutdown on tty7 but then switches to tty0

2008-02-23 Thread Sam Morris
Package: gdm
Version: 2.20.3-1
Severity: normal

-BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE-
Hash: SHA1

It seems that gdm runs shutdown(8) on tty7, but then switches to tty0.
The effect is that the user sees its shutting down message, but then
no further messages until power is turned off. I actually thought that
my system was crashing until I happened to switch to tty7 once and
observed the output from various init scripts, etc, being printed there!

Bug#467212: ekiga: please compile with dbus support

2008-02-23 Thread David Mohr
Package: ekiga
Version: 2.0.11-2
Severity: wishlist

Please compile ekiga with dbus support. I put the --enable-dbus in the
rules and compiled it myself without problems, but it'd be nice to have
it in the official package.

Or is there a reason not to include the support?

Bug#454789: Epiphany-webkit can't connect to the internet

i don't think that the work offline setting is related to the fact
that you cannot get epiphany-webkit to connect to the internet.

however, this does expose the minor issue that work offline is
always checked on start up and doesn't actually appear to do anything.

Package: librsvg2-bin
Version: 2.18.2-1
Severity: wishlist

  Hello,

I was looking for a converter SVG to PNG, and I found that
librsvg2-bin is pretty good at this job. However, I was rather upset
when installing it pulled in 30MB of gnome dependencies... I didn't
look in the code, but I would be very surprised if the converter
depended on gnome's printing libraries.

The solution to that would be to package them separately. What do
you think about that ? After all, the converter could be used
on a X free server. It would then pull in even much more useless
dependencies, such as the full X11 librairies.

  Thanks

Vincent Fourmond

I understand your concern about the dependency tree, but I still
wouldn't want these binaries to be split, it would be a bit overkill.
However, libgnomeprint is being phased out upstream in favor of Gtk+
printing support. You're welcome to work on moving to Gtk+ for
printing, but I suggest you work with upstream on this subject.

Well, I guess I'll just selfishly recompile rsvg for my own needs (and
rename it svg2png) - I'm afraid I have neither competences nor time to
 help in this particular case.

I guess this can be closed now with version 2.22.0-1:

 Depends: libc6 (= 2.7-1), libcairo2 (= 1.4.0), libglib2.0-0 (= 2.12.0),
 libgtk2.0-0 (= 2.12.0), librsvg2-2 (= 2.22.0-1), libx11-6, python (= 2.4),
 python ( 3)
