Yes, Mike worked those features out, using another generous user's
Handera 330. Unfortunately, that user had his Handera stolen the day Mike
returned it, so he can never exploit those new features, but the code does
exist. The code is not yet in the cvs, so I assume Mike is still working on
it in his local copy.

Does the Handera in question have ZLib installed?  Surely it's more
likely to be some problem there than in plucker, if DOC-compressed
files work.

... and when the HandEra encounters a page with italic text it will
never stop redrawing the page. Over and over again, it will try to 
redraw the page and only a reset will stop it.
