 Sometimes it takes even longer.
My wi-fi is not overload so why there are so long delays in showing
 covers?
Would it be possible that Ipeng caches album covers in internal Ipod
 memory to show it faster?
iPeng does cache the icons but only after they are loaded once.
The delay is probably because the server has to scale them the first
time. Please open the same artist again to see if it's faster.

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] Extension Downloader woes again

2009-10-08 Thread Phil Meyer
It seems like for new plugin installations Extension Downloader always
picks the plugin from the manually configured repository.
Thanks Erland.

Although it was only offering me the beta versions from the test repository,
after endless restarts, it did list the plugins without *Beta* in the names
when the plugins were active. Does this indicate that it actually installed
the latest versions from the main repositories instead?

Anyway, I did as you suggested and uninstalled all your plugins, restarted, and
then ticked to install all your plugins again, but from Recommended and Other
sections. Upon restart, I got a similar effect as before, where it reports
that plugin updates are available, only this time it says it's installed most
of the plugins, except for Database Query.

I did another restart, and it then installed Database Query and didn't report
any more plugin update messages.

Is this expected, or another bug that I should raise? I'm thinking that maybe
its some dependency order thing - perhaps it can't install Database Query for
example until another plugin has already been installed. It's confusing:

- that it says Plugin updates are available whereas in fact there aren't any
and it hasn't installed something that I asked it to do.
- that when visiting the Plugins page it says that it has installed updates and
needs a reboot, but I have auto updates disabled.

This was much smoother than yesterday when I tried it, only requiring 2
restarts in total to install all of the plugins.

Thanks,
Phil

I just had an issue with my TrackStat being stuck at v2.8 and not
upgrading. I tracked it down to a manual install of TrackStat (when I
was testing the fix about ratings not being applied to titles with a '

install everything is fine again

Hi erland,

I have upgraded to Trackstat 2.9.1 and I'm still seeing this. My
server.log is attached but basically all of my new music has the path
incorrectly specified and so is being missed by the scan. By the way,
there is one slight change and that is existing ratings are now not
wiped and survive the Custom Scan scan.

Any other tests you want me to run? By the way, I continued the
conversation in this thread, is that o.k. or do you want me to move it
to the up to date TrackStat thread?

Cheers

[SlimDevices: Plugins] Music IP becomes Amplified Music Service

Not sure what, if anything, this means to those of us that use and love

You can still download MusicIP, but the business model seems based on
selling/licensing the underlying code/technology for integration in
other soft/hardware.

Has anyone else any ideas?

[SlimDevices: Plugins] CustomScan iTunes Statistics Import

2009-10-08 Thread discgo

Hats off to erland for these great plugins! I've got a quirk here that I
can't figure out...I'm trying to get my last time played data from
iTunes to SC using CustomScan. I get times played and the rating fine,
but the only Last Played data is only since my most recent backup. My
iTunes library has all the last time played data but doesn't want to
pass it along to SC. I'm using TrackStat to view the data and like I
said I only get Last Played Songs since my latest backup. It's weird
because the total Times Played and ratings are all there and correct.
ITunes integration is off and I use MusicIP to import my library. I can
restore the data just fine but LTP doesn't want to import from itunes.

I'm on Mac 10.6, iTunes 9.01, SC 7.3.4, TrackStat2.8 CustomScan 2.6

Anyone else seen this issue?

enjoy the music!

 develop it further.

It's good to know that changing the menu names is easy, and that adding
an item is not too difficult.

It might be nice if you could add, under the Idle Times section, a No
Action item. Currently one has the choice of having idle players
noticed, with an arbitrary action if they aren't idle and one the
specified set of actions on Indle, or of having it turned off, so that
enither indle nor non-idle are noticed. I can easily see a situation
where one wants something to happen if a player is not idle (for
instance, to ensure that the machine does not sleep) but does not want
an action when the player is idle. In fact my computer has gone to sleep
unexpectedly a few times recently, and I think this is the idle action
kicking in, so I have had to turn this off.
Couldn't you just point the on idle action at a benign, does
nothing command? If not, could you rephrase your request here? I'm
not entirely sure I understand what you're getting at.

Is this expected, or another bug that I should raise? I'm thinking
that maybe its some dependency order thing - perhaps it can't install
Database Query for example until another plugin has already been
 installed. It's confusing:

 - that it says Plugin updates are available whereas in fact there
aren't any and it hasn't installed something that I asked it to do.
 - that when visiting the Plugins page it says that it has installed
updates and needs a reboot, but I have auto updates disabled.

Sounds like another bug.

I can't get any dynamic playlists that are based on static playlists to
work anymore. For instance, I have a static playlist called Fast
Favorites. When I attempt to play this as a random dynamic playlist,
either from the Dynamic Playlists menu, or SQL Playlists menu, I just
get a failed message. I turned on logging for dynamic playlists and
sql playlists, but the only thing logged is that it received the command
for it to play. The failure does nto seem to be logged. I have tried
starting it from the WebUI, from a squeezeplay based player, and from
the classic player UI, and it fails every which way.

Try goto the playlist in the SQL Playlist menu, select Customize SQL,
hit the Save and then the Test button. Does it show any tracks or
errors when you hit Test ?

Immediately after you have hit the Test button you can use the back
button in the web browser to get back to the previous page without
actually saving anything.

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] Announce: Beta version of SvrPowerControl

2009-10-08 Thread danco

Well, if hibernate does nothing on the Mac, that would deal with the
issue for me, but it might still be relevant for others.

Can you just point the on idle action to a benign do nothing
command? I thought that you could only point it at one of a pre-defined
set of commands, none of which are do nothing on all machines (though
some may be on my Mac).

SvrPowerControl is new to me, as you can see, so I am just beginning to
understand it. If the Restart Server command in fact just runs
spc-restart.sh, I could easily produce a do nothing script and just give
it that name.

But I still think that, at some future point, having a Do Nothing item
in the menu makes most sense.

It's not quite true that hibernate does nothing on the mac. My mac
scripts do support both sleep and hibernation. I'm working on the 7.4

Let me think about this for a day or so and I'll see what I can come up

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] Announce: Beta version of SvrPowerControl

2009-10-08 Thread epoch1970

Well.
The mac has 3 power states: on, off, and suspended to Ram (aka
suspend)
Hibernate, that is Suspend to disk is only used on a portable mac when
the battery is totally drained.
This is quite different on Windows, where hibernate is somewhat
preferred. Linux has everything, as usual.
SrvPowerControl trying to be cross platform, the menus offer Suspend
and Hibernate.

But in your case, since there is no practical way of forcing
hibernation on the mac, the only useful entry is Suspend.
Hence you can use the Hibernate menu entry to input a do nothing
command.

/bin/true is a standard unix do nothing command, that returns happy
after having done nothing. Strange as it is, it can be useful when you
want to make sure something does not return an error code, in any case.
Its opposite is /bin/false: it does nothing either, but always returns
unhappy, with an error code.

So I suggest aliasing Hibernate, the useless machine state on a mac to
/bin/true, a happy do-nothing command.
And have srvPowerControl activate that when it sees the players idle.

I think this is what you've been asking for. If it is not, please
excuse the noise.

Here is a screendump of the whole preferences screen as I imagine you
want it:
- do something of yours when not idle,
- do nothing when idle,
- suspend the computer when pressing and holding sleep on the IR,
- ability to suspend, shutdown, reboot, the machine from players menus
or the web interface.

(I attach the file as a zip, just download and uncompress. I do not
think it is appropriate to inline such a large image (1000x2000 pixels)

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] Announce: Beta version of SvrPowerControl

2009-10-08 Thread epoch1970

Sorry. Hibernate is *not* a power state that is available to end-users
on macs.
The only people I know that care to tweak their pmset settings and use
hibernate instead of suspend-to-ram are insecure former windows users.
No, this is not a sarcasm.

That's really not important, but I think the settings when running on a
mac could completely omit the hibernation state.

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] [Announce] SlimNAS 1.4.99 for SqueezeboxServer 7.4 / FreeNAS 0.7

2009-10-08 Thread PerLundborg

Hi again,

after having solved the first issue with an incomplete
squeezeboxserver-7.4.0-28672-noCPAN.tgz (page 6), I now have an issue
with internet radio playback.

It seems to be related to slimnas, as installing the SBS on my XP and
switching my Duet to that server library allows me listen to Internet
Radio Local SR P4 Stockholm.
Switching back to the Freenas disables audio output, the station is
found, with banner and logotype.

Currently on
Freenas:
0.7RC1 Sardaukar (revision 4735) built on Sat Jun 20 20:25:01 UTC 2009

Slimnas:
SlimNAS Version v1.4.99f

SBC:
Version: 7.4.0 - r28672 @ Mon Sep 28 17:52:57 PDT 2009

Any ideas, as this was working on the FreeNAS 0.69.2 / SC 7.3.3 combo I
had previously.

There's nothing you need to install -- the PowerCenter zip file should

The full path of BR.EXE is what PowerCenter needs. PowerCenter is
