I've had some thought regarding a central TrackStat storage which would
make it possible to do a lot of things by analyzing different users
listening behavior and ratings. However, I've always got stuck due to
 two things:
 - I'm not sure my server would be able to handle the load and storage
 space needed
 - LastFM offers something pretty similar to this already today

I'm going to be cheeky and answer thus: ideally both, but I'm guessing
it'd be easier to implement at a user level if the users in question are
willing to do a little extraction and importing.

[SlimDevices: Plugins] Extension Downloader: which plugins updated... and more

2009-10-11 Thread ModelCitizen

SBS has just alerted me that I need to restart it as some plugins have
been updated. I have two issues:

1) I'd like to know which plugins have been updated but as far as I can
tell I am not informed. Is this correct? If not, where does it tell me?

2) Even though I've restarted the server the line Plugins have been
updated - Restart Required will not go away until I close the SBS web
ui.

Thanks.

The issue here most likely is the composer attribute. Would it work

Kind of. I removed the composer field, and that enabled 'currtime' and
'X_Y' fields to show correct values when streaming.

Where the 'artist' field is, just says 'Now Playing'.

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] iPeng support thread

2009-10-11 Thread strindberg

I'm using iPeng 1.2 with Squeezecenter 7.3.3

* I think I saw someone else in this thread mentioning that search was
very slow, and I see the same thing. Sometimes I wait for ~10 seconds to
see any search results appear. Although my server is not the quickest,
searching through the regular web interface is not nearly as slow. A
thought I had was that this could have to do with the automatic search
for each keypress, i.e. that once one has type fly the search starts,
and then when one adds a g to give flyg I assume that the first
search is canceled and a new is launched. Could the problems we see have
to do with this? I don't have the impression that search is slow per se,
but once one starts looking for something, misspells what one is looking
for, restarts etc, search slows to a crawl.

* It seems to me that diacritic (national) characters are not
supported in iPeng, is this true? I have an album and a song called
Flygande holländaren, but searching for holländ only gives the song
Lowlands of Holland, i.e. with the ä substituted for a a. This
really would be a huge disappointment for me if it is not supported.

When it says that plugin updates are available, you can see the plugins that
have updates available in the Active Plugins list, highlighted in bold.

However, I was getting plugins have been updated following a restart, even
though there were no plugin updates identified previously, and I have auto
updates turned off.

2) Even though I've restarted the server the line Plugins have been
updated - Restart Required will not go away until I close the SBS web

I was getting that too, which is a bit confusing if you leave the window open
all day and come back the next day...

I use Firefox Prism plugin to create a dedicated application that can be
iconised to task tray, so it remains open all the time.

I don't think Real was a poor decision at the time - IIRC it was the
only commercial offering to provide large server that met with BBC
requirement of maintaining copyright through a proprietary codec. I
think the BBC persisted with Real for too long.

Although 1 year ago flash was a closed protocol. The underlying RTMP
protocol has now been documented and released by Adobe and now 3rd
parties can create their own implementation legally such as BBCiPlayer
so the decision is not quite as bad as the earlier Real and then later
MS ones.

Exactly the same on Vista. The menus and everything are there except the

[SlimDevices: Plugins] AlienBBC vs BBCiPlayer plugins

2009-10-11 Thread Triode

With the advent of 7.4 and the changes to BBC stream availablity we
would like to migrate users to the BBCiPlayer plugin for BBC content.

To support this, I have removed AlienBBC from the recommended 3rd Party
repository for the moment. The current version does not actually
support 7.4 and the latest streams fully and so is generating support
questions which are best answered by asking users to switch to
BBCiPlayer.

Alien is still needed to support Real Audio on any Squeezebox or WMA on
Squeezeboxes which do not support this. We will update Alien and
perhaps produce a separate WMA plugin to support this. At this point we
will return it to the recommended lists if requested.

Please post any questions below.

There is a limitation with the alarm functionality which means you
can't use a favorite to store the BBCiPlayer station for an alarm.
Instead do the following: Play the stream you want to listen to on the
player then set the alarm using current playlist as the alarm. This
will store the stream including enough information to restart it in the
alarm handler.

not installed. Then select to install from the recommended repo.

2009-10-11 Thread gharris999

Thanks for that. Here's what I'm working on in order to get
SrvrPowerCtrl into shape for 7.4:

- Re do setup scripts for RedHat, Debian, MacOSX so that they work
both with SqueezeCenter and Squeezebox Serverdone.
- Investigate making SrvrPowerCtrl show up in 'Apps menus' on the SBC
and Touch...giving up on this, for now.
- Re-do help files, adding supporting code that opens the appropriate
help file for the server's OS and points the user to the correct
location for the enabling setup script...working on now.
- Test SN vs MSB stuff. Try to figure out what's broken with 7.4 and
  how to fix it.
- Add support for custom user labeled and configurable commands.
- Review all other code changes since last release for 7.4
  functionality...fix where appropriate.

You can always download and manually install my latest check-ins of
code from http://code.google.com/p/srvrpowerctrl/source/browse/

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] Announce: Wave Input plugin v1.00

2009-10-11 Thread Nuukee

Hi and thanks for the prompt answer!

With your command I received the following error:
Warning: unsupported audio format
So I fumbled around a bit with lame's command line options and what
worked for me is:
wavin2cmd.exe -o wavin:0 | lame -r - audio.mp3
(r for raw input - when I used -x in addition, I got only static
noise in the file).

Now when I am using it from the squeezebox server I receive:
[09-10-11 17:31:24.9360] Slim::Player::Song::open (399) Error: Couldn't
create command line for wavin playback for [wavin:0]

Plugin is loaded successfully, mp3/lame is enabled under file types.
I tried modifying the wavin-convert.conf file to match the -r option,
without success. Is there anything else that I am missing?
Again, thx for the great support here!

Do you think it is translation time ? I can do the FR version if you
want, I managed to have a little bit of slack. But of course by now
you're probably fluent, non ?
Test SN vs MSB stuff. Try to figure out what's broken with 7.4 and
 how to fix it.
I don't know what you're doing to SN/mySB, but for what I've seen
things seem pretty stable on the API side.
I guess the syncgroup thing may have an impact. I never looked into
this.
Usually between SC and SN, when a player was switching I could see SC
declare it both local and remote for a good minute or so. With my recent
tests with the admittedly buggy 7.4.0 and mySB, the commotion was much
longer. Add a second local SBS and serverstatus turns totally wild :)
I've had cases of Boom reconnected to the wrong server.
The bugs are being sorted out I think, on both mySB and SBS sides.
Perhaps you want to release the plugin with SBS7.4.1 ?
Add support for custom user labeled and configurable commands.
Wow. This will be big.

[SlimDevices: Plugins] weird issue with iTunes iTunesupdate Mac OS X 10.6

2009-10-11 Thread govardha

Hello,

I noticed this weird issue in my Mac OS X instance. I vaguely remember
noticing an identical issue in 10.5 also. The iTunesupdate plugin works
fantastic, it keeps track of my ratings/skips etc perfectly. If iTunes
is closed, after the first song is played/every next track, either
iTunes is launched. But here is the weird issue I am seeing now. If
iTunes is up, in addition to the update to the database, iTunes starts
playing the very first song in my library.

I also notice another issue, which may/may not also be part of this
same weirdness. Every time I want to reboot my computer, iTunes keeps
starting up and I am unable to shut down/restart, eventually after 5-6
attempts or my logging off as the current user, I am able to restart the
computer. I shutdown SqueezeBox, but this issue still happens.

I am unable to look at any logs to see what could possibly cause this
issue. Can somebody give me any other thoughts or suggestions?

Thanks,
G

[SlimDevices: Plugins] iTunesupdates Presets

2009-10-11 Thread govardha

James,

I noticed another issue with 7.4 and your plugin or may be not :-). I
used to be able to rate the songs with my remote and there were no
issues in the older versions of the s/w. With this version, I am able
to rate the songs, but then as soon as I am done with rating the song,
the favorite assigned to that # starts playing.

Right now, my need for iTunesupdate is more important than the presets
for shortcuts, so I just disabled all my favorites.

Am I right with the diagnosis of this bug or is there a work around to
this issue?

Thanks,
G

The -x issue relates to which version of lame you are using - pre
3.98.1 you need -x.

The could create command sounds like an install problem

In Settings/Advanced/Filetypes make sure you have Wave Input settings
which have wavin2cmd entries all enabled ?

For testing avoid transocding to MP3 (i.e. no no bit rate limiting and
keep all filetypes enabled) and so it will use Flac.

I can setup various VMs for testing/dev purposes if you'd like. I know

[SlimDevices: Plugins] Quick question re Customscan

2009-10-11 Thread egd

Erland

It's been quite some time since I've used customscan as I've been
furiously adding metadata to my FLAC library, specifically ensuring most
albums have STYLE and MOOD tags. All tracks containing more than a
single attribute per tags now contain multiple entries for that tag, so
for eg a STYLE attribute would have a one to many relationship to tracks
and a track could in turn have a one to many relationship to STYLE
attributes. Does Customscan build it's database this way ie create a
table for every custom TAG you choose to track eg. create a STYLE table
containing the population of STYLE attributes and another table linking
tracks to the STYLE table with as many records for a track as it has
style attributes?

Reason for my questions is I'm wanting to start reaping the benefits of
doing this tagging and I'd also like to reuse the data for analysis
purposes.

Thx

Versioning issue perhaps? Or it is installed manually, and therefore you are
not informed of an available update.

NB. I think it would be nice if it detected newer versions available in ED even
if plugins are manually installed (i.e. display a warning, highlight plugins in

Hi there,

Thanks for a great screensaver - in fact so great I had to post a story
about it at the danish eZine mediamac
(http://mediamac.comon.dk/index.php/news/show/id=21975).

I seem to have found two perhaps-known bugs:

a) When accessing the long forecast, it does not scroll if I am using
text size large. Anyone else experiencing this (server 7.4)?

b) Certain characters are not displayed in the 3-line part. This
includes ().

And then I do have two quick questions:

c) Is it possible to get the wind forecast with a parameter? Not
current wind, but the one forecasted in the long forecast?

d) Is it possible to get the long forecast displayed with a parameter?
Will it be scrolling or just show as much as can be seen?

Looking forward to your comments!

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] Quick question re Customscan

2009-10-11 Thread erland

All scanned data is stored in a single table
(customscan_track_attributes), in this table there might be multiple
rows for the same track/tag combination.
So I believe it stores the information as you like with the difference
that it doesn't separate each tag in a separate table.

The table definition looks like this:

Code:

  CREATE TABLE `customscan_track_attributes` (
  `id` bigint(20) unsigned NOT NULL auto_increment,
  `track` int(10) default NULL,
  `url` varchar(511) NOT NULL,
  `musicbrainz_id` varchar(40) default NULL,
  `module` varchar(40) NOT NULL,
  `attr` varchar(40) NOT NULL,
  `value` varchar(255) default NULL,
  `valuesort` varchar(255) default NULL,
  `extravalue` varchar(255) default NULL,
  `valuetype` varchar(255) default NULL,
  PRIMARY KEY (`id`),
  UNIQUE KEY `id` (`id`),
  KEY `track_attr_idx` (`track`,`module`,`attr`,`id`),
  KEY `musicbrainzIndex` (`musicbrainz_id`),
  KEY `urlIndex` (`url`(255)),
  KEY `module_attr_value_idx` (`module`,`attr`,`value`),
  KEY `attr_module_idx` (`attr`,`module`),
  KEY `extravalue_attr_module_track_idx` (`extravalue`,`attr`,`module`,`track`),
  KEY `track_module_attr_extravalue_idx` (`track`,`module`,`attr`,`extravalue`),
  KEY `module_attr_extravalue_idx` (`module`,`attr`,`extravalue`),
  KEY `module_attr_valuesort_idx` (`module`,`attr`,`valuesort`)
  ) ENGINE=InnoDB

Where each column contains information like:
`id` - A unique number (generated)
`track` - Reference to a track, refers to tracks.id
`url` - Reference to a track, refers to tracks.url. Used to reconnect
track column after a rescan.
`musicbrainz_id` - Reference to a track, refers to
tracks.musicbrainz_id. Used to reconnect track column after a rescan.
`module` - Scanning module used, for example customtag
`attr` - Tag name, for example MOOD or STYLE
`value` - Tag value, for example Romantic
`valuesort` - Sort tag value
`extravalue` - Type of object, NULL for customtag scanning module
`valuetype` - Type of object, NULL for customtag scanning module

There's 2 ways
1) just tap on the album artwork on the left, rather than the album

2) tap on the album text on the right and hold for 1 second, that will
give you a context menu of choices, one of which is to immediately play

You don't need to put anything in the Other Devices list for the plugin
to correctly control the amp power, just go to the PowerCenter player
settings for each Receiver and set the right X10 code -- so Kitchen and
Bedroom will each have A1 as the X10 code, etc. The Other Devices list
just allows you to use the Controller Extras menu interface to manually
send commands; you could add entries like A1=Main flloor; A2=Upstairs

James probably need to do the same change as I did in TrackStat and
define button mappings for:
'0.hold_release' = 'dead',

'2.hold_release' = 'dead',
'3.hold_release' = 'dead',
'4.hold_release' = 'dead',

As a temporary solution it might work if you also install TrackStat, I
think iTunesUpdate uses the TrackStat rating code in this case.

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] Music IP becomes Amplified Music Service

As I've understood all developers that knows the MusicIP source code has
left the company, so the development of MusicIP is halted and has been
so for a while.

The statement:
Amplified currently has no plans to offer support for MusicIP Mixer.

which is shown on the download page also makes it pretty clear that
they have no plans to update the MusicIP code.

So unfortunately the future doesn't look very promising.
