Happy listening! Thanks for explaining the amp vol to me, makes sense. My speakers are outdoor ones that are reasonably inefficient, but as of last weekend they are feeding through a Klipsch powered sub so they are no longer handling the low end... what a difference! I suggest trying a larger volume increment per press in the app to cut down on the network traffic. 5 seems to work well for me in Squeezer. Also, if you are looking for more volume output from the AVR, you need to increase the max volume in the plugin from -10 back to a higher value. A setting of -10 limits the maximum volume of the AVR to 70dB, or 10dB below the commonly accepted reference level of 80dB. From what you have been saying, it sounds as though you are using relatively inefficient speakers that require more power to reach your desired listening levels. Your previous max volume plugin setting of +15 would change the maximum volume of the AVR to 95dB, which would be pushing it close to its theoretical maximum capacity. For comparison, I rarely get my Denon AVR-3311ci above 55dB, even when playing classic rock under the influence of mind-altering substances. ;-) The LMS volume scale is maintained on a scale of 1-100, which can be understood as a percentage of the maximum. Therefore, in your present setup, an LMS setting of 90 corresponds (roughly, as it's not a linear scale) to 90% of 70dB, or 63dB. Using a max volume plugin setting of +15, an LMS setting of 90 would result in 90% of 95dB, or ~86dB which, in my system, would result in me shopping for new speakers. I hope this has been helpful. The plugin caches volume change requests that are received within .25 seconds of each other in order to avoid overloading the AVR with a continuous stream of small changes. From the log, I can see that Squeeze Ctrl is sending a flood of very small incremental volume changes rather than collecting them into one larger request, which leads me to believe that it uses some sort of analog-looking volume control. Squeezer also has that kind of analog dial in its UI, but I never use it because of the behavior you describe. Instead I use the phone's hardware up/down volume buttons, each press of which causes Squeezer to send a distinct volume change of +5 or -5, depending on which button is pressed. This results in smooth volume changes without overloading the AVR with network commands. If Squeeze Ctrl offers this type of functionality, I would suggest that you give it a try. Incidentally, the buttons on either end of the volume bar in the LMS client serve the same function, sending incremental changes of +2 or -2. Hi Chris, yes the change from around 50 to 90's followed my change of the LMS settings for fixed at 100% volume/not fixed. Interesting that last night while using the system I noticed that in using Squeeze Ctrl to increase the volume appreciably (a favourite track came on!) the volume increase of the amp lags very noticeably and therefore appears to jump up quickly to above what is desired. In reducing volume it does the same and jumps down quickly. It seems to be that it is trying to catch up but allows LMS to increase about 20% before it does. So as a listener while adjusting the volume it is progressive increase with sudden large increases. Not sure which app and/or plugin is responsible! Aesculus wrote: > Do you think this is when the settings were changed on SqueezeCtrl to > 100% volume? I do. I believe that the app was adjusting the volume higher in a (misguided) effort to reflect the "fixed at 100%" setting. You may have noticed that the first volume command sent to the plugin was "100" which, combined with the max volume plugin setting of +15, resulted in an absolute volume of 95dB being sent to the AVR, an event that I'm pretty sure would have caused damage to my speakers and/or my eardrums. > Since my amps and AVP are separate I never turn my amps on for new tests > such as this. My speakers are on stands so I could just pull out the banana plugs on the back. I've thought about how I would go about using the Squeeze Ctrl app if I decide to purchase it for testing purposes and the first thing I would do is to change the maximum volume plugin setting to something like -50, adjusting it upwards from there as needed. [SlimDevices: Plugins] iPeng to provide handoff to HomePod at LMS not only via iPhone?
I have one question according to iPeng: When I am doing a hand-off from my iPhone to my HomePod mini, it works - but the sound is streamed from my iPhone to the HomePod via Airplay. This works, but it would be much nicer to have a real handoff, i.e. that the action of handoff triggers a switching of the player on the LMS, so that iPeng on the iPhone is only the remote, and LMS is streaming to the HomePod via Airplay and the airplay bridge. This would be a very nice feature. Would that be possible? rkrug's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=62249 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=114118 ___ plugins mailing list plugins@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/plugins

I've thought about that but the volume in the case of the bridges is not controlled at all through soft gain and the reason is the high level of buffering within the UPnP device. It's not obvious to me, at present, how that might be seamlessly achieved. There may be a perfectly good way. I, personally, do not suffer the issue that it seeks to solve. So I would not (today) benefit from its inclusion in the radio firmware. I think what should be possible is to devise an 'installer' Applet that would undertake the necessary installation actions. I haven't looked at the detail to know. And I don't know what "tinkering" options might need to be supported. This would complicate matters. The Applet approach would have the advantage of being available both to users of 'stock' firmware, and to users of the community firmware. The driver for this is the presentation of more More info under Material's INFO button - Album | Artist | Track - the INFO button is ONLY there if you have MAI installed - so are you worrying about a situation that won't ever exist? I think this issue seems to be very 1.FM specific and probably how the logos are served. I have tried other searches (e.g. Jazz) with more than 2 pages of mixed source results and Material worked OK. I then thought maybe only 2 pages of single source results (e.g. BBC) - and again it worked OK. However the 1FM search stubbornly does not show logos in page 2 for me - yet work for others - so this seems to be a some sort of 1.FM fetch timing issue. bpa's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=1806 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=109624 ___ plugins mailing list plugins@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/plugins
Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] Qobuz.com streaming plugin
Very (very) occasionally I get the currently playing track truncated on Qobuz and the play skips to the next one. It may be the Qobuz service itself but in case it helps this just happened and the log file contains: Code: [21-03-10 09:32:16.7210] Plugins::Qobuz::Plugin::__ANON__ (919) Get album (tnnhunwfq6dsa) failed [21-03-10 09:32:16.7525] Slim::Utils::Misc::msg (1283) Warning: [09:32:16.7521] Argument "" isn't numeric in addition (+) at /usr/local/slimserver/HTML/Default/xmlbrowser.html line 476. jophill's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=71321 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=97146 ___ plugins mailing list plugins@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/plugins
Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] What are you using for Android?
We use Material Skin for everything and the APK on Android. Not only does Material Skin have the exact amount of features we need, but it is also a pleasure to look at. Additionally, we have AirBubble (a very old app from BubbleSoft) running in the background on our phones so that we can stream to the phone (for headphones) via Airplay Bridge. Having just one controller across all platforms is good for motor memory :-). You said > a bit "expensive" in terms of lookup time. Would this massively increase the traffic to Allmusic to an extent where rate limiting might apply? Lookups are relatively slow, as you can see from the artwork lookups. Some aggressive caching would be required to not look up the same data over and over again. Genres typically don't change much over time :-). The other problem is integration with music services: I don't want the music service metadata provider to rely on MAI being installed. I'd need some other means to hook in there. ___ plugins mailing list plugins@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/plugins

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] Announce: Material Skin
I actually meant if ... Its a local track with no genre - use the genre as disclosed for the album in MAI - its under Album Information Ok, interesting idea. Though a bit "expensive" in terms of lookup time. And: I checked a dozen or two of my "Random Albums". It's all "Rock/Pop". Madonna, Dream Theater, Neneh Cherry, Air... Bob Marley isn't. And Frank Zappa isn't found. And then there's the multiple Genres issue: Air actually had Electronica in addition to Rock/Pop. What would you return? Next question: how to deal with these genres. Should they just be names, or linked to actual genres you have in your library? I might consider importing genres for the integrated online library entries (it's actually a great idea! But time...). I'm not sure I can easily/reasonably do it for pure online tracks. ___ plugins mailing list plugins@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/plugins
