I actually had a problem track myself at the weekend so maybe this might be relevant; I had a track with no album set in iTunes, but the mp3 itself contained ID3v1.1 tags which had an album name. The album was then showing up in SlimServer and breaking the plugin's search of iTunes. To fix the problem I had to force iTunes to overwrite the v1.1 tags - changing any other version had no effect! That does imply some sort of discrepancy between the MP3 tags that SlimServer is reading and the meta-data that iTunes is using. Do you see anything obviously wrong when you look the Get Info screens in iTunes? Maybe different types of apostrophe? The first track has accented characters so I'm not really surprised it wasn't found. But the 2nd looks pretty simple - what happens if you type The Beach Boys Made In U.S.A. Surfin' USA Into the search box in iTunes itself? That's essentially what the plugin does to find the tracks... That's strange, half-star ratings are core iTunes functionality as far as I know. You could check in the backed up iTunes database xml to see if it has half-star ratings and start over with it? From memory, if you're running on Windows with direct updates enabled, the play time in iTunes is updated to whatever Perl thinks the current time is. You could enable the debug level logging of iTunesUpdate and check the log after playing a track - the output may contain some clues? Sorry, not using iTunes 10 myself. The plugin stopping working after an iTunes upgrade is a fairly common issue (on Windows) and reinstallating usually fixes the issue. Seems like it fails to install the COM components sometimes. Anyone using iTunes 10 without issues? Hmmm I think last time this came up it was down to a date format issue. If this is the issue, something seems to have changed in OS X so it is *much* more strict about what strings it will parse as dates. I had been corresponding with someone via email and working on a fix (it's very tricky as I don't have a mac). I will see if I can find the modified version for you - I hadn't released this as there hadn't been any public reports of issues. In the meantime I would suggest turning on the Mac::AppleScript::Glue debugging to get the Applescript it's issueing, then playing around with this manually to see if you can get it to work. After checking the box to install the plugin SqueezeScrobbler 1.2.7. and a first restart of the Squeezebox Server, I cant access any more in the plugin section of the Squeezebox Server. The Squeezbox Server wants to be restarted again and again. Sorry I don't know why this would happen - best to take a look at the log file to see what's going wrong. The Mac::AppleScript::Glue errors don't look good, it's surprising that iTunes
is getting updated at all!
Searching the forums it seems a few people have had 1753 errors before, but
they just went away after a few restarts.
Perhaps there are some temporary files used by the Applescript that get
corrupted in some way?
The only thing I can suggest is adding the following to the Plugin.pm file to
enable printing of the Applescript being executed:
$Mac::AppleScript::Glue::Debug{SCRIPT} = 1;
Perhaps this will shed some light on the problem?

This is a bit puzzling. I assume the plugin isn't disabled because it wouldn't show up in the menus. You are playing local files, not internet radio or similar? Which OS are you using? I think there are still some issues on the Mac with UTF8 characters. Although I had a track on Windows yesterday that wasn't working - first time in ages... If you check the log after playing the track in question there may be some useful output printed. If not, try changing the plugin.itunesupdate log level to Debug. In the web interface, iTunesUpdate appears in the 'extras' section. I haven't upgraded my Controller yet, I'm not sure if that still works. So, it sounds like the plugin hasn't installed properly for you. How did you have it installed before - manually or with the Extension Downloader? I'd try uninstalling and reinstalling first. iTunesUpdate doesn't use the iTunes library file, it communicates directly with the iTunes application. It can only do this on Windows or OSX. /media should be where the files are on the NAS device. The script only checks
that the end of the Mac path matches, so the leading /Volumes shouldn't be an
issue.
The problem looks like the missing value thing - is that what actually
appears? It should be the path to the file on the Mac. That implies your iTunes
doesn't know where its files are, which would be a bit worrying!
I'll add the perl path, I'd thought I'd done that before!

Again, I ask the question, why are sub-dot releases of the SqueezeCenter software causing this sort of failure in a plugin? I guess you're not reading my responses then? Again, it's nothing to do with SqueezeCenter, LastFM changed the format of some of their responses to the plugin - essentially when the plugin requests a station change, LastFM used to respond with a confirmation that would include the station that was changed to. Recently they changed the response so that station name is reformatted (e.g. capitalised and URL escaped) and this causes a loop in the plugin. Yes. It's just some sub-optimal code that picks up the track starting twice. (BTW, switching off the squeezebox also triggers recording of the last track played. LastFM has 'similar artists' stations, which are created automatically in the LastFM menus for the recently played artists. I believe they're not allowed by the record labels to play specific artist stations, as that functionality used to exist but was removed some time ago. iTunes update receives the rating and is working fine. iTunes does not alter its rating, but it does update the playcount. I'm confused! Could be a bug. With both plugins installed, when you rate tracks from TrackStat, iTunesUpdate should receive a callback from TrackStat and send the new rating to iTunes. SO, when you rate the tracks, do you see the new rating in the iTunes Update menu/webpage but it doesn't get saved to iTunes, or iTunesUpdate doesn't get the rating at all? Those are the standard LastFM plugins - are you actually trying to use SqueezeScrobbler or just having problems with the standard plugin? I think this happens when the plugin was in the wrong place but is then moved to the right one. Try deleting the plugin-data.yaml file from the SqueezeCenter cache directory, then restart? I've put a new version on my web page that includes the script again. I also added an option to enable the new 'bookmark' functionality (which defaults to off) and attempt to reset the iTunes bookmark to zero when the track is played in SlimServer. Yes, if you * install the plugin * rename the .par file to .zip * unzip it in place the plugin should still work... (Leave the .par file renamed or delete it, otherwise I'm not sure which version gets used!) The history file is always saved in the playlist directory. So if you're not using that setting, just set it to wherever. If you want to change the location to something else, you'll need to find where that variable is actually used, and stop it from having the playlist folder path added to it. The .par file is really just a zip file. If you extract the files structure from within it, and remove it, SqueezeCentre will use the files instead, so they can be modified locally. Hi Bhima, So you found the properties to set the bookmark! The iTunes Update plugin uses a library called Mac::Applescript to dynamically generate execute Applescript to perform any changes on the Mac. So the first step is to work out the Applescript that would perform such an update. Then one needs to work out the Mac::Applescript syntax to generate the Applescript (generally this is very similar to the Applescript but in a different order) Once you've done all that, updating iTunes Update itself should be pretty easy. Have you tried reinstalling iTunes? It quite frequently fails to install the OLE interface on the first install. Apple hadn't updated the SDK for iTunes 8 when I checked earlier this week, but it's unlikely they'd change this basic operation.
