afriend and erland,

I just discovered the availability of Ratings Light v1.9.1. I
uninstalled the previous version and installed this one.

Fabulous! The backup works like a charm!

And when scrolling to the end of the backup file I saw a "WARNING" that
a track had been ignored and that I could check the server.log for more
information.

I checked the server.log and, yep, there was a reference to the file I
had deleted with this commentary: "WARNING: Ignoring this track, not
found in LMS database"

So, excellent diagnostics and revision. Many thanks to you both!

Thanks for your quick response. It's probably something I've fouled up,
so if you don't see an immediate solution don't worry about it. As long
as I can rate tracks and produce playlists based on those ratings (which
I am able to do) I'm AOK.

So, I restarted LMS and ran a manual backup. This time I did get another
backup file and it notes an additional 17 tracks that I've rated since I
last produced a backup file, but still no list of tracks and their
ratings. Here's the content of that new backup file:

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] [Announce] Ratings Light

2021-05-03 Thread radish112

I have a question about the ratings backup file that the Ratings Light
plugin is to create, either manually or automatically via a scheduled
time specified by the user.

After installing the Ratings Light plugin I chose the parent folder into
which RL files would be saved. I then ran a manual backup, which
produced the RL folder and--inside that newly-created folder--a backup
file. Here are the contents of the backup file:

---

---

RL states that the backup file allows one to "Backup all rated tracks
(from your entire library) and their rating values in a single backup
file," so I was surprised to find no tracks with ratings data in the
file , particularly given that RL found 404 rated tracks. (I used to use
Trackstat, but to be on the safe side I uninstalled it when I upgraded
LMS to version 8.1.2. I guess the tracks that RL discovered are from
Trackstat; the Now Playing screen in LMS continues to show the correct
number of "stars" for tracks I have rated even though I uninstalled
Trackstat, and I have run several "clear library and rescan everything"
scans since then.

I thought that maybe I needed to play and rate some more tunes and then
run the manual backup again, maybe "waking up" the now-installed RL
somehow. So I did that, and this time when I ran the manual backup, RL
produced no additional backup file at all. I tried a couple of more
times with the same outcome.

So my questions are:
How do I get RL to produce a backup file that shows my rated tracks and
their ratings?
How do I get RL to produce an updated version of that file every time I
choose to run a manual backup?

I'm grateful for the Ratings Light backup; I just need to learn how to
succeed at using i

afriend,

Hi.

This morning the Material Skin alerted me to the the availability of
Ratings Light v1.8.2. I then installed it without a hitch, and
everything appears to be working just fine.

There is one anomaly that doesn't prevent me from using Ratings Light
but that is puzzling.

When I attempt to access the Settings for Ratings Light from the Plugin
tab on the LMS default user interface, I get this message:
"404 Not Found:
plugins/Extensions/settings/plugins/RatingsLight/settings/settings.html"

But when using the Material skin, I can access the Ratings Light
settings with no problem.

I'm running LMS Version: 8.1.2 (1614990085 @ Sat Mar 6 02:41:13 CET

v 7.0.0

Many thanks for the fix in 8.1.2!

afriend,

Thanks for your quick reply and explanation.

Your quick patch (1.8.2) doesn't show up in the list of available 3rd
party plugins, perhaps because Ratings Light (v1.8.0) shows up in the
list of Active Plugins even though it is accompanied by the "Plugin
failed to load" Description.

Maybe if I deleted the Ratings Light v1.8.0 entry from the list of
Active Plugins, the 1.8.2 would show up in the 3rd party plugins. But, I
don't know how to go about deleting the Active Plugins entry (or if that
would be of any help at all).

I'll take at look at the github entry and see if it seems like something
I could manage without making a mess of things :)

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] How to make a fresh start with Trackstat?

2021-02-05 Thread radish112

Roland0 and Erland,

Many thanks to you both for your helpful replies.

Although I may later find out that my current optimism isn't warranted,
I seem to have achieved what I wanted, which was a "fresh start."

I believe that things were just as you, Erland, suggested. After I did
both a "Delete unused statistics" and "Remove all data" one right after
the other, I then immediately did a manual backup, and the backup file
was just an "empty" .xml file ready to receive data.

Then I immediately did a "clear library and rescan everything" as a
test. I followed this by doing another manual backup, and the .xml file
was full of data rather than the empty shell the previous backup
produced. I believe this was a demonstration of what you predicted in
that what I'd done was to "get rid of the data related to files that no
longer exist, but the old data will still be there for files that
exist."

In any event, I've begun happily listening to music and making my
ratings anew. A quick creation and test of an SQL Playlist showed that I
can (for example) play a random set of tunes I have rated 5* since my
fresh start.

I was content to start from scratch again, and it looks like that's what
I've accomplished. Salvaging the old data would have been good (and the
ratings in the small number of files that didn't get moved during my
restructuring HAVE been preserved), but I'm OK with the way things are.

I've done both scheduled backups and a manual backup, and they seemed to
go ok. The relationship between the two still seems a little confusing
to me, but I intend to continue with scheduled backups so if I ever have
to "restore" from file" I can just point to the most recent scheduled
backup file as the one from which the restoring will be done.

Thanks again to you both. Doing the ratings again means I'm listening to
more music lately...that's the whole point, isn't it? :)

Steve

[SlimDevices: Plugins] How to make a fresh start with Trackstat?

2021-02-03 Thread radish112

I am a Trackstat user. I recently restructured my library of FLAC files,
and the complexity of the restructuring has meant that neither restoring
my latest (pre-restructuring) scheduled backup of Trackstat nor the
option to "Find alternative files" is successful in salvaging all of my
Trackstat data. Both those efforts have probably just made things worse.
So, I'd like to make an absolutely fresh start with Trackstat, as if I
was installing and using it for the very first time.

I'd appreciate any help you can give in answering these questions:

1. What procedure can I use to achieve an absolutely fresh start with
Trackstat? For example, could I achieve this by doing something as
"simple" as deleting the persist.db file and other files? If so, where
would I find such files?

I have tried "Delete unused statistic" and "Remove all data" followed by
a rescan, but thanks to the persist.db (I guess) the deleted, incomplete
data come right back and subsequently entered ratings data don't
"stick." I have also uninstalled and reinstalled Trackstat, but that
hasn't worked either, maybe because a newly installed Trackstat "finds"
and uses old files that weren't uninstalled. Thus my desire to make a
fresh start.

2. Once I have achieved a fresh start with Trackstat I'll of course want
to do scheduled backups as I did in the past.

I'll have no problems browsing and selecting the directory where I'll
have read/write privileges. But although I've successfully done
scheduled backups in the past, I can't remember how to create (?) the
file that will store the initial backup of data. I know that the
scheduled backup files are .xml files, but surely I can't just use, say,
Notepad to create a blank file with a .xml extension (e.g.,
tsbackup.xml) and expect Trackstat to write the initial backup to that
file, can I?

I don't remember creating such a file in the past, so I'm wondering if
Trackstat automatically creates such a file on its own the first time a
scheduled backup occurs.

Thanks in advance for your help. Stay safe...

Craig,

Thanks for your prompt and helpful reply. In truth, I'm afraid I'm
likely to foul-up the process you've outlined (through faults of my own;
not through any fault in your precise step-by-step instructions).

My guess is that there are few users of Pandora, and fewer still who
would find this feature of major importance to them. And during those
times when I'm using Pandora I can achieve what I want by simply running
both Orange Squeeze and Material Skin simultaneously and switching back
and forth between them as need be.

So, this is a long-winded way of saying I'm going to pass on attempting
to implement the procedures you've described.

Sorry to have caused you to waste your time on this matter...and thanks
for a terrific plugin.

Here's an observation that I'd like to add as a feature request if it's
not a major hassle:

When I access Pandora via Orange Squeeze, I get the option of rating the
currently-playing tune with a "Thumbs Up" or "Thumbs Down." (see
photo).

When I access Pandora via the Material Skin the Thumbs Up/Thumbs Down
option is not presented.

These days I find myself using Material Skin more often than Orange
Squeeze due largely to the ease with which the Material Skin makes it
possible to access lyrics. I'm a geezer and, perhaps like some fellow
geezers, my hearing is going (too much rock 'n' roll) and accessing
lyrics is a good feature for me.

Cheers,

Cheers,

Steve

d6jg,

Thanks for your kind offer to furnish me with your notes on updating LMS
outside the VB system. I'm going to pass for now, given that Craig has
confirmed the presence of the Radio pinning problem and created a fix in
the to-be-released 0.9.4 version of the Material skin.

slartibartfast

Thanks for having a look. Your response makes me believe that a pinned
radio station did in fact work for me earlier. If that's the case the
obvious question for me is: What changed?

Here are the only things I remember changing.
1. I upgraded to the latest version of the Material skin (i.e., 0.9.3)
2. Because I wanted to (a) pin a couple of new stations to add to the
existing (and working) station and (b) change the order in which the
newly-pinned stations were presented, I deleted the working station and
begin to pin several stations including the previously working station.
At this point I encountered the problem: All the stations were pinned,
but none of them would play.

The only other thing I can think of that might be a problem is that I'm
running LMS Version: 7.9.1 - 0.7.20180404git1522249619 @ Mon May 14
10:51:59 EDT 2018.

I run LMS on a Vortexbox appliance. My updates to LMS are handled via
updates to the Vortexbox software, but obviously updates have not been
offered in quite some time. I'm guessing I could figure out how to
update LMS outside the Vortexbox update process, but I'm loathe to do
this since everything aside from the Material skin pin problem is
working fine. It's a case of "If it ain't broke don't fix it." This runs
afoul of earlier behavior of my part: "If it ain't broke, break it." :)

P.S. I tried the Material skin on Firefox (I currently use Chrome), but
that didn't solve the pin problem.

Thanks,

Steve

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] Announce: Material Skin

2019-07-31 Thread radish112

Good morning.

I have been using and admiring the Material skin for a couple of months.
I like the convenience of being able to pin Apps and invoke them with a
tap. My understanding is that Radio items should work the same way but
for me they don't.

>From within the "Radio" item I click on a station and am presented with
the option to "pin to main page." I tap this option, and when I return
to the Main (Browse) page the station is indeed pinned there, but when I
click on the station nothing happens. This is true for both the desktop
and mobile versions of the Material skin.

I believe there was a time when clicking my pinned station did invoke
the station and begin playing, but it's been a while since I tried that
feature so I may be mistaken about this.

In any event great work on the skin, Craig. I can live without the
ability to start radio stations from a pinned status, but it is a nice
feature. If someone can provide a tip concerning what I may be doing
wrong I'd appreciate it.

Cheers,

Steve

Hi.

In the closed thread "The Spotty Spotify implementation," user usc95
indicated he was able to set Spotify's "Release Radar" and "Discover

that s/he had done so. I am a Spotty user and although I can access RR

which so far I have not been able to do.

I noted that usc95 is using Ipeng. I am an Orange Squeeze user. Can
anyone tell me whether it is the case that while Ipeng can set RR and DW

will someone give me a hint? :)

Many thanks to Michael for Spotty, which I am thoroughly enjoying!!

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] SmartMix 1.6: support for mobile browsers LMS 7.9 library views

2015-01-17 Thread radish112

Michael,

Thanks for having a go at the Choose player issue. I installed Smart
Mix 1.6.1, but I'm still experiencing the same result: The mix is
directed to the same SB Classic every time, even when I have previously
selected a different SB as the active player in Orange Squeeze on my
Nexus tablet. If 1.6.1 is supposed to give me a choose player option
(or is supposed to direct me back to Orange Squeeze to make the
selection after I've created the mix on the Blender) I'm not seeing that
option.

I can fix this problem by selecting the desired player via the web
interface.

And I can, of course, work around the issue by synchronizing my SBs so
that the SB preferred by Smart Mix is synchronized with the SB that I
myself prefer.

If a fix can be found for the issue, that would be great. Otherwise,
it's not a big deal for me.

Thanks,

Steve

I'm not sure I know what you're asking, or how to do it.

Am I correct in thinking that you are asking me to determine the html
code that is behind the prompt that, within my Orange Squeeze app,

device and its software this will work just fine - or not. Good luck

I guess most of you who have been using the Advanced Blender to produce
Song Mix recipes (i.e., playlists) have already discovered the
Playlist Types. If not, however, you might find the following
descriptions helpful.

Playlist Types
artist: plays songs for the given artists
artist-radio: plays songs for the given artists and similar artists
artist-description: plays songs from artists matching the given
description
genre-radio: plays songs from artists matching the given genre
song-radio: plays songs similar to the song specified

On the Advanced Blender page, note the blue (help) link in the upper
left-hand corner. The Playlist Types and other helpful information
appears on clicking on the (help) link.

Michael,

I just want to thank you for the Smart Mix plugin. I've just begun to
scratch the surface of its apparent capabilities, but I'm already
enjoying a good Jazz mix from my local music library right now.

I do have one question. On your original posting announcing the plugin,
you noted that that Smart Mix could Create smarter mixes with more
control using one of the supported music services (at this time limited
to Spotify, Deezer, MOG, Rhapsody/Napster).

Of these music services, the only one I subscribe to is Rhapsody.
However, I don't seem to have the capability of creating
Rhapsody-related mixes. Creating mixes from my own music library works
just fine. (And yes, I have toggled back an forth between the Don't use
online music services in your mixes. Use your own music files only
options and, yes, I'm using the 0.94 version of the plugin.)

Can you (or another reader of this post) confirm that it is in fact
possible to create Rhapsody mixes using Smart Mix?

Happy New Year to all!

[SlimDevices: Plugins] TrackStat - Desired feature...

2011-12-04 Thread radish112

I'm a Squeezebox-er and a licensed user (and big fan) of TrackStat.

Because I'm a bit obsessive/compulsive I wish TrackStat could provide,
for starters, the following data (as iTunes does):

1. Number of tunes (and, ideally, albums) I have played at least once
2. Number of tunes (and albums) I have never played

I'd settle for this as a straight count, displayed to the GUI, without
the necessity of showing which tunes/album meet the criteria.

As retirement nears, and as I totter off into additional uselessness,
my goal is to make sure I have listened--via my Squeezebox--to every
album I own (and to follow my progress in doing so).

MeSue,

Maybe. I note that

http://wiki.slimdevices.com/index.php/Database_Query_plugin

states:

1. The Database Query plugin provides a number of predefined queries,
but you can also write your own using SQL statements.
2. Database Query plugin provides a way to download and share query
definitions with other users, this is used in a number of different
ways.
3. The latest version of the builtin query types are always available
for download, this means that instead of waiting for a new official
release of Database Query you can download a new query directly after
it has been corrected by the developer.

I use a VortexBox Appliance. My LMS Plugins tab shows that my Data
queries directory is /storage/music/playlist, but I find no predefined
queries there (or if they are there, I don't know how to find them).

I don't know how to write my own SQL statements, so that's out.

And as for downloading a new query, I don't know where to find them.

So, although there may be predefined queries that do what I want (and
even more), for now I don't know how to access them.

I'm hoping that Erland will point me in the right direction.

Thanks for your response.

I have no doubt that the fault is with my execution (e.g., failure to

[SlimDevices: Plugins] USB external hard drive for VortexBox Applicance...advice needed

2010-12-09 Thread radish112

Hi.

I recently purchased a 1TB VortexBox Appliance (VBA). Things are are
working fine, and it's time for me to begin thinking seriously about
purchasing/using an external drive to backup the files stored on the
VBA.

I am considering purchasing a WD Elements Desktop USB 2.0 external hard
drive.

For those of you who already own a VBA and are successfully backing it
up (garym, are you out there?), I have a couple of questions:

1. What USB external hard drive are you using?
2. If I click on the Backup icon on the VBA GUI, I'm instructed to
Please attach your USB drive to your VortexBox. Once your drive is
attached you can reload this page by clicking on the backup icon. Is
backing up really as simple as plugging a new out-of-the-box USB hard
drive into the VBA and following these instructions?

Thanks,

Steve
