[libreoffice-projects] Third Bug Hunting Session for LibreOffice 6.1 on July 6, 2018

2018-07-05 Thread Xisco Fauli
LibreOffice users around the world help developers to test new features
and fix bugs before a new version is released. After the first

and second

Bug Hunting Sessions of LibreOffice 6.1, which were held on April 27th
2018 and May 28th 2018 respectively, we’re glad to announce the third
Bug Hunting Session on *July 6th* – the last one before the release of
LibreOffice 6.1!

LibreOffice 6.1 is due to be released in mid August with many new
features described in the release notes
 and this is our
last chance to test and find issues before its release.

In order to find, report and triage bugs, the tests during the Third Bug
Hunting Session will be performed on the first Release Candidate version
of LibreOffice 6.1, which will be available on the pre-releases server

on the day of the event. Builds will be available for Linux (DEB and
RPM), macOS and Windows.

Mentors

will be available on *July 6th 2018*, from *7.00 UTC to 19:00 UTC* for
questions or help in the IRC channel: #libreoffice-qa
 (connect via webchat
) and
its Telegram bridge and there will be a
dedicated session

to test the *new offline help system* available in LibreOffice 6.1 from
14:00 and 16:00 UTC.

Of course, hunting bugs will be possible also on other days, as the
builds of this particular Release Candidate (LibreOffice 6.1.0 RC1) will
be available until the end of July, when the second Release Candidate
will be available.

With your help, we can make LibreOffice 6.1 the best release yet – thanks!

[libreoffice-projects] REMINDER: First Bug Hunting Session for LibreOffice 6.1. Tomorrow Friday, April 27.

2018-04-26 Thread Xisco Fauli
LibreOffice 6.1 is due to be released in mid August 2018
,
with many new features (those already implemented are summarized on the
release notes page
, with much more
still to come).

In order to find, report and triage bugs, the Quality Assurance (QA)
community is organizing the first Bug Hunting Session for LibreOffice
6.1 on *Friday, April 27, 2018*. All details are available on the
specific wiki page.

In order to find, report and triage bugs, the tests during the First Bug
Hunting Session will be performed on the first Alpha version of
LibreOffice 6.1, which will be available on the pre-releases server

on the day of the event. Builds will be available for Linux (DEB and
RPM), macOS and Windows, and can be run in parallel with the production
version – so you can test without affecting your existing stable
installation.

Mentors

will be available on April 27th 2018, from *8AM UTC to 8PM UTC* for
questions or help in the IRC channel: #libreoffice-qa
 (connect via webchat
) and
its Telegram bridge . Of course, hunting
bugs will be possible also on other days, as the builds of this
particular Alpha release (LibreOffice 6.1.0 Alpha1) will be available
until the end of May.

During the day there will be two dedicated sessions

focus on two of the tenders

implemented in LibreOffice 6.1: The first to test the improvements on
the image handling

between 10AM UTC and 12AM UTC, and the second to test the HSQLDB import
filter for firebird

between 14PM UTC and 16PM UTC.

a large number of new features, which are summarized in the release

added.

In order to find, report and triage bugs, the tests during the Second

[libreoffice-projects] First Bug Hunting Session for LibreOffice 6.0 on October 20, 2017

2017-10-19 Thread Xisco Fauli
LibreOffice 6.0 will be announced at the end of January 2018, with a
large number of new features which are summarized on the release notes
page: https://wiki.documentfoundation.org/ReleaseNotes/6.0. In order
to find, report and triage bugs, the QA team is organizing the first bug
hunting session on Friday, October 20, 2017. Tests will be performed on
the first Alpha version of LibreOffice 6.0, which will be available on
the pre-releases server
(http://dev-builds.libreoffice.org/pre-releases/) a few days before the
event. Builds will be available for Linux (DEB and RPM), MacOS and
Windows, and will run in parallel with the production version.

Mentors will be available on October 20, 2017, from 8AM UTC to 10PM UTC.
Of course, hunting bugs will be possible also on other days, as the
builds of this particular Alpha release (LibreOffice 6.0.0 Alpha1) will
be available until mid November.

During the day there will be two dedicated sessions: the first to chase
bugs on the main LibreOffice modules between 3PM UTC and 5PM UTC, and
the second to test a set of the top 5 features between 5PM UTC and
7PM UTC. All details of the first bug hunting session are available on
the specific wiki page:
https://wiki.documentfoundation.org/QA/BugHuntingSession/6.0.0Alpha.

During the dedicated sessions, we will concentrate all efforts to chase
and reproduce the bugs, in order to confirm and file them in a
more comprehensive way. Of course, the more comprehensive will be the
bug report, the easier will be for the developers to solve the bugs in
time for the final release.

Re: [libreoffice-projects] On the communication channels we use

2017-08-01 Thread Xisco Fauli
Hello,

I just want to make clear that the decision of creating the Telegram
group for QA was discussed in the QA meeting on 2017-04-25 [1]

Besides, both channels are bridged now, which IMHO, allow everyone to
choose what fits her/him better.

[libreoffice-projects] Second Bug Hunting Session for LibreOffice 5.4

2017-06-07 Thread Xisco Fauli
LibreOffice 5.4will be announced at the end of July2017, with a large
number of new features which are summarized on the release notes page:
https://wiki.documentfoundation.org/ReleaseNotes/5.4. In order to find,
report and triage bugs, the QA team is organizing the second bug hunting
session on Friday, June09, 2017. Tests will be performed on the second
Beta version of LibreOffice 5.4, which will be available on the
pre-releases server (http://dev-builds.libreoffice.org/pre-releases/) a
few days before the event. Builds will be available for Linux (DEB and
RPM), MacOS and Windows, and will run in parallel with he production
version.

Mentors will be available on June09, 2017, from 8AM UTC to 10PM UTC on
FreeNode #libreoffice-qa channel
( connect via webchat
).Of course,
hunting bugs will be possible also on other days, as the builds of this
particular Betarelease (LibreOffice 5.4.0 Beta2) will be available until
the third week of June.

During the day there will be two dedicated sessions: the first to chase
bugs on the main LibreOffice modules between 3PM UTC and 5PM UTC, and
the second to test a set of the top 7 features between 5PM UTC and 7PM
UTC. All details of the second bug hunting session are available on the
specific wiki page
.

During the dedicated sessions, we will concentrate all efforts to chase
and reproduce the bugs, in order to confirm and file them in a more
comprehensive way. Of course, the more comprehensive will be the bug
report, the easier will be for the developers to solve the bugs in time
for the final release.

Besides, there will also be manual tests to be executed in TestLink
, our new platform for manual
tests. More information about TestLink here
.

As a new feature this time, we will reward every participant who reports
a bug found [*] in LibreOffice 5.4 Beta2 with a shiny ‘Proud
Contributor’ sticker.

[*] In order to claim the sticker the bug needs to be reproducible in
LibreOffice 5.4 Beta2 and it needs to be a not-yet-reported regression
introduced in LibreOffice 5.4, a crash or a bug in a new feature
introduced in LibreOffice 5.4. The bug’s description must have the
detailed steps to reproduce the problem and the affected document if needed.

[libreoffice-projects] First Bug Hunting Session for LibreOffice 5.4

2017-04-19 Thread Xisco Fauli
LibreOffice 5.4 is due to be announced at the end of July 2017, with
many new features (those already implemented are summarized on the
release notes page –
https://wiki.documentfoundation.org/ReleaseNotes/5.4 – with much more to
come).

In order to find, report and triage bugs, the QA team is organizing the
first Bug Hunting Session on Friday, April 28, 2017. All details are
available on the specific wiki page:
https://wiki.documentfoundation.org/QA/BugHuntingSession/5.4.0Alpha.

Tests will be performed on the first Alpha version of LibreOffice 5.4,
which will be available on the pre-releases server
(http://dev-builds.libreoffice.org/pre-releases/) a few days before the
event. Builds will be available for Linux (DEB and RPM), macOS and
Windows – and they will run in parallel with the production version, so
you don’t have to install the version of LibreOffice you’re using.

Mentors to help you report and confirm bugs will be available on April
28, 2017, from 8AM UTC to 10PM UTC. Of course, hunting bugs will be
possible also on other days, as the builds of this particular Alpha
release (LibreOffice 5.4.0 Alpha1) will be available until the middle of
May.

During the day there will be two dedicated sessions: the first to chase
bugs on the main LibreOffice modules between 3PM UTC and 5PM UTC, and
the second to test a set of the top 7 features between 5PM UTC and 7PM UTC.

During the dedicated sessions, we will concentrate all efforts on
chasing and reproducing bugs, in order to confirm and file them in a
more comprehensive way. Of course, the more comprehensive will be the
bug report, the easier will be for the developers to solve the bugs in
time for the final release.

We hope to see you there, and if you take part, thanks for helping to
make LibreOffice more robust for everyone!
