[pulseaudio-discuss] ANNOUNCE: Planning and Roadmap meeting: Thursday 24th Feb.

2011-02-22 Thread Colin Guthrie
Hello,

Now that we've got a few participants lined up, I thought I'd send
another message.

My previous time suggestion didn't fit with everyone, so the new best
time is apparently 17:00 Thursday 24th Feb. If you want to particpate
but this time doesn't suit you, please fill in the Doodle here that Arun
started: http://www.doodle.com/ivx28di2kzztm2dt and reply to this thread.

I will post an initial agenda later today for comment and further
suggestions. I will also ping some people who may be interested but may
not follow this list as closely as everyone else.

The meeting will be in #pulseaudio-meeting, but anyone is welcome to
lurk/participate as appropriate (although we should try to stick to the
agenda!)

Watch this space

Col

I've posted an initial agenda up here:
http://pulseaudio.org/wiki/Meetings/2011-02-24

There are a few topics there but some will be quite quick to discuss.
Feel free to add items you feel are important and we can try and discuss
them. We can try and do this in approx order of priority incase people
have to leave before all topics are exhausted :D

Status for jack detection might be worth discussing. This is becoming
increasingly important, due to a lot of Nvidia HDMI audio cards that are
having several outputs, and there is no way knowing which one is the
correct one, before the monitor is actually plugged in.

Also there seem to have been several implementations of this feature but
none have been committed.

Given Ubuntu time schedules, such a feature would require too much work
to land in 11.04, so I don't plan to start working on it now, but I
might spend some time implementing it for 11.10, i e around May -
August. (No promises though - still too early to know what will happen
and if other things will take more time than expected, etc.)

Very good point. I've added this in - feel free to clarify :) (it
actually ties in to my dealing with virtual sinks in GUIs thing -
admittedly not as I've described it, so I reworded it a bit too)
