 Not for nothing, but I think this is actually an ALSA issue; I have other
 applications that are getting confused by stuff changing on suspend as
 well, such as the kmix dock app (which crashes when the name changes, and
 I don't think that app uses HAL at all).

 Hmm, actaully nowadays I think this is an ALSA issue too. Have you tried
 newest ALSA? If the problem persists with newest ALSA please file a bug to
 ALSA upstream.

 OK, to keep track, I just filed a bug. I'm not too technical on it, as I
 don't know too much of the internals, such as where HALD actually gets the
 information about the sound card. I grepped /sys and /proc and found
 nothing interesting there.
