Dear QGIS Users and developers

We are pleased to announce a new plugin called InaSAFE, available in
the 'new' QGIS repository. INDONESIA SCENARIO ASSESSMENT FOR
EMERGENCIES (InaSAFE) is free software that produces realistic natural
hazard impact scenarios for better planning, preparedness and response
activities. The software is currently being developed in Indonesia
however it can be tailored for any location that is interested in
hazard impact scenario development.

InaSAFE has detailed documentation, which you can find on the home
page here: http://inasafe.org

InaSAFE is released under the GPL 3 license and is completely open
source - you can download the source, file issues and join our
community here:

https://github.com/AIFDR/inasafe

InaSAFE was conceived and initially developed by the Indonesia's
National Disaster Management Agency (BNPB) and the Australia Agency
for International Development, through the Australia-Indonesia
Facility for Disaster reduction, the World Bank and the Global
Facility for Disaster Reduction and Recovery.

[Qgis-user] SLD : Export categorized Qgis styles toward geoserver : error message

2012-07-05 Thread laurent celati
Hello,

We work with Qgis 1.7.4. We have browsed several data from our Postgis db
into qgis project. We associated for each data a style. Those styles are
categorized in a layer according to attribut values. Yesterday, we succeed
in exporting these styles in qml. But we want export these styles in SLD in
order to send its toward geoserver.

We tried to use SLD plugin called Save style as SLD. But we have a error
message. We can't save those styles in SLD format. We noticed sentences in
the script saying : .

Moreover, we have the same problem to export those styles toward geoserver
via option Upload to Geoserver.

1/Could you throw light for me please.
2/Is there any updates and patchs in the Qgis 1.8 regarding this SLD
problem?
3/According to you, Would we have more facilities using with Qgis server
rather than Geoserver (always regarding this SLD problem)...

Thanks.

Please use qgis 1.8: it can save a style as SLD.
Surely using QGIS server is more straightforward for a QGIS user.

Re: [Qgis-user] SLD : Export categorized Qgis styles toward geoserver : error message

2012-07-05 Thread Bernhard Ströbl

Hi,

I have used geoserver with PostGIS, normally writing my sld files
myself. geoserver has some extensions that are beyond the sld standard,
so in order to use them you need manual editing.
I have never used QGIS sld capabilities but AFAIK they are only very
basic. If you use QGIS server (which I do) you can style your layer with
anything QGIS offers and the WMS layer looks just the same as in QGIS
desktop, so this is easy styling :-)

hope this helps

Bernhard

[Qgis-user] SEXANTE testing

2012-07-05 Thread Paolo Cavallini
Hi all.
I'm working on sextante, and I find a number of issues, mostly minor stuff.
I'm thinking of testing the modules one by one, and reporting on the wiki for
each
the success or failure, and the operating system used.
Given the large number of modules, this requires a fair amount of work, and I'm
unable to do it all alone. Any volunteer? This would be especially suited for a
student, or someone that wants to learn all the analytical capabilities of the
sextante backends (GRASS, GDAL, OTB, etc.).
Please reply on this list, or privately to me.
All the best.

Hi Paolo,

this was one of my to-dos :-)
So I saved the style as sld in 1.8. Basically it looks better than it
used to, so I recall my statement, it is not basic, however geoserver
did not validate it and udig dit not apply it :-(

As I said I do manual editing of my slds so I do not care.

To add to what has been said: ArcGIS 10.1 desktop can now directly connect
to Postgres through a toolbar and read the ST_GEOMETRY type ... this
*should* essentially provide QGIS's non-plugin Postgres functionality in
ArcGIS. No need to fuss with SDE or an Esri enterprise geodatabase in
general (Esri's spatial database layer), unless you want direct GUI
functionality or other Esri features (like versioning, etc.).

[Qgis-user] QGIS Web Client Rewrite rules

2012-07-05 Thread bboughton
Hi quick question with QGIS Web Client ReWrite rules. I've tried for a couple
hours and I can't seem to get it right.

So my map URL is:
http://domain.com/qgiswebclient.html?map=/home/ben/qgis-web-client/projects/gf_utm.qgsformat=image/pngvisibleLayers=paddocks,image

I want to get it down to
http://domain.com/maps/gf_utmformat=image/pngvisibleLayers=paddocks,image

Basically to hide the directory my content is in.

DocumentRoot is /home/ben/qgis-web-client/site

What rewrite rule would I need in my virutal host file? I have read the QGIS
Web Client readme on the matter but no luck.

Thanks, Ben

[Qgis-user] Working with field calculator on QGIS 1.8.0

I am creating a new field (column) called NEW_COVER and I want to assign a

Field: Cover
Values: A, B

In the Expression window I have:

But when I click OK, I don't get the result that I was expecting, to have a
value 1 on the new field NEW_COVER.

What I am doing wrong?

Re: [Qgis-user] SEXANTE testing

2012-07-05 Thread Filipe Silva Dias
On the bright side, the R backend is working fine. Ive been doing some
testing and everything works smoothly (and fast), both with vectors and
with rasters.

If anyone out there is hesitant about creating R-Sextante functions, dont
be. It works perfectly.

I have one comment though: it should be possible to read R code error
messages in QGIS. If a user makes a script that contains a mistake in the
R code,Sextante simply says Could not load layer etc etc.

Ill keep opening tickets whenever I find something that's not working. The
Model Builder stills had a few serious problems, but the rest is on the
right track I thing. Victor Olaya usually fixes the bugs that we find quite
fast, so if more people could join the unofficial Sextante bug hunting
team, things would progress faster I think.

Best regards

[Qgis-user] accessible tables could not be determined

2012-07-05 Thread Noel A Heim
I am new to QGIS and I'm having trouble getting all of my geometry-bearing
tables to load. I have PostgreSQL database that I am connecting to through
QGIS. When I connect to the database via the Add PostGIS Layer button, I get
the following error message:

Database connection was successful, but the accessible tables could not be
determined.

About a third of the schemas that contain geometry fields are loaded. These
work fine (i.e., I can create layers), but why are the rest of my schemas not
showing up? They do have tables with geometry columns. I can't seem to find
any preference settings that relate to schema/table loading.

I searched the archives for this list and found a similar question from 2010 to
which Pierre Chevalier answered that all the schema and column names should not
have upper case letters. All the schemas and table names in the database only
contain lowercase letters, underscores and numbers (but they alway start with a
lowercase letter).

Thanks for your help.

Three thing you might look at:

QGIS requires an integer primary key (not bigint)
What's the search_path for the user you are connecting as?
Have a look to be sure that each of the layers in each schema
indeed has a correct entry in the geometry_columns table (with
it's schema entered in the f_table_schema column).

Re: [Qgis-user] SEXANTE testing

2012-07-05 Thread Victor Olaya

I have one comment though: it should be possible to read R code error
messages in QGIS. If a user makes a script that contains a mistake in the R
code,Sextante simply says Could not load layer etc etc.

Those are saved by R to the Rout file in the sextante folder (in
your user folder). I will add some mechanism to maybe open it from
SEXTANTE.

I have seen your problems with the modeler. I am happy, as they are
not very serious (they are not in the execution, but in the design),
so should not be hard to fix.

If you just want to read from a csv file, you do not need scripting, just use
the plugin Add Delimited Text Layer.

Hi!
The equivalent for model builder will be the model builder of SEXTANTE
which is available as an EXPERIMENTAL(!!) plugin right now (Depending on
the version of QGIS you have you probably have to add a plugin repository).
It already works quite well but don't expect it to be rockstable right
now as it is a very young project for QGIS.

For CVS I see you already got the answer with using the delimited text
layer plugin ..

kind regards
Werner
