Sinclair QL Spanish Resources has new URL more according to the
international scene and to the modal of resources only in Spanish. From
now the Internet direction of our web is

http://sinclairql.es
Is there an English site?
I am afraid my Spanish is not good enough!

No Tony, I feel it. It supposes a lot of work for us to translate the site.

Some time ago we think to do it, but we think that the results would not
be very good.

One of the advantages of the new site of news sinclairql.info will be
that you can know the innovations of the QL Spanish webs, and of the
other languages, I wait.

It's more simple write news that change our web to adapt them to two
languages.

Hi Dilwyn,

you should remind, that the start of the week in Germany is at a monday. The
program just lets you choose sunday (as in USA) or saturday (??? don't know
where).

I don't know about Germany but the week starts on Sunday in Greece (The
translation of the word Monday in Greek means Second Day) as well.
In the USA they accept as end of the week Monday.

I thought the whole of Europe had the week starting on Sunday. Mind you
that is not work week but Calendar Week.

Cheers,

Hi Phoebus,

in Germany, the week starts at Monday, and I believe, we are not the only
one. There is no difference between work and calendar week.

Cheers...Ralf R.

I have always been surprised about this. We are christian countries, and
the bible says (genesis) on the first days., the seventh day was a
day of rest.
So this would mean (as sunday is the rest day) that monday is the first
day of the week. Now I would expect jews to start the week on sunday as
sabbath (their rest day) is on saturday...

Actually the Sabbath is the rest day (which corresponds with Saturday). So
it follows that Sunday is the first day of the week.
I did some research and found (thanks for free GPRS access on the weekends
;-) this page: url: http://webexhibits.org/calendars/week.html.

There I found that per international standard Monday is the first day of
the week, however NOT for religious purposes. If you are a practicing
Christian or Jew theoretically at least your first day is Sunday. (Hence
why the name of Monday in Greek means Second)

but not for the US (which seem to see thereselves as a separete part of the
world). All their calenders start a week earlier with the week numbers as
eueropean ones.

I've seen it used in the USA (IRS forms actually - that's the tax guys
for
the uninitiated) to denote January 2nd.
Then of course we're using miles and pounds still :-) -not to mention

I do personally too.
All our timber merchants still sell imperial sizes, but display them

01/02/2006 is January 2nd whereas most of the world treat it as February
 1st.

It's pretty logcial though, they just write it as they speak it:

January second two thousand six
as unfortunaltely, they are burdened (ha!) with then english language which
puts the month first, then the day, then the year.
