 Hi Geoff,

This raises the point that I raised in my last personal statement. Two
members of the present committee are retiring and unless Quanta gets new
blood on the committee - and there are only 10 nomination days left -
 then
it could be too small to be viable.

Seems to be the most important point to me, isn't it? I think, QUANTA is
 too
much overloaded with jobs and election jobs.

I am not sure what you mean by election jobs. When you handle almost
£5,000 of members' money per year, you have to have official things like
elections, reports and auditors. Otherwise you have hit the nail on the
head. Quanta has to get down to determining its core tasks and stop
indulging in fantasy schemes for which it has neither the skills nor the
resources to implement.

When I read the chairman's report last year, I was shocked by the number of
things he promised that Quanta couldn't deliver and hasn't delivered. To be
quite honest I was relieved not to be elected chairman, and when I
congratulated the winner I had the hypocritical politician's smile on my
face, but underneath I was smugly thinking You silly bugger - now you've
got to implement your promises.

I have not enjoyed sitting on the committee and hearing all the wild ideas
about a revamped website, with passwords and restricted areas and ideas for
a chat room for Quanta members only, knowing the committee were unable to do
a simple thing like keeping the site up to date,

Best Wishes,

Geoff (privately)

[ql-users] Structured SuperBasic 2.7

2006-01-23 Thread Timothy Swenson
After much procrastination, I've finally finished and released Structured
SuperBasic (SSB) 2.7. Biggest changes are:

   - Now compiled with Turbo.
   - Now supports three languages (English, German, Italian)
Support for other languages is fairly trivial once I have the text
translated.
   - Includes documents on how to use SSB with Make, RCS, MicroEmacs.

It can be found on my geocities site: www.geocities.com/svenqhj/

Thanks,

Tim Swenson
