Looking through the questionnaire a few new questions came up.

1) What is meant by a QL derivative?
The explanation in my English Dictionaries doesn't tell me how to apply
this to the QL.

2) The QXL is missing from the various hardware lists.

3) There was also a question for most used QLing platform.
Wouldn't it be interesting to know how this compares to say other PC use?
Looking through the list for the second time I could not find this item
again and may have submitted the incomplete survey by mistake, so please
ignore.

3) I could not find a link on the Quanta site for this survey.
So it's now limited to QL-users who have got the link.

WM_MOVEMODE 2 works correctly on the Q60.

As you say, the command works fine under QPC2.

Both 1 and 2 are rather slower on the Q60 than on QPC2 - as you might
expect.

Both 1 2 work well on Aurora, in high resolution mode 4 as well as
colour mode. But it takes a few seconds for the pointer to reappear, which
makes WM_MOVEMODE 0 my preferred mode on Aurora.

How can they ignore it? They don't know which are *yours*.
I too submitted an incomplete survey while browsing just as you did.
There just has to be a 'SUBMIT SURVEY' button at the end.

That combined with the invalid question that does not define 1-5 means I
think that the survey will have to be started again I reckon.
Can I suggest that name/email be asked for at the very least. Also did
the questions have numbers?

If not they should. It is hard to discuss here without that.

At least you can tell how many strong feelings there were. 3 = don't care. 1,5
= I strongly something. 2,3 = well perhaps so.

I selected option 1, which I took to be; I Strongly Agree

I will be introducing the wrong information in the survey now.

The Survey should of been proof read before being published.

That was all my fault.
When testing the survey I did spot that there should have been an indication
to which was Strongly Agree/Strongly disagree but I forgot to ask Keith to
change this.

The spellings and inconsistencies were also all my fault.

I did try to incorporate the suggestions that had been sent in when it was
initially planned, and each time we do this, hopefully we will get better.

I notice that Keith and Dan have now added a comment to which is Strongly
Agree on the scale and Dilwyn's suggestions on some of my spelling mistakes
have now been corrected.

The reason for the lack of collecting a name or email address was down to the
idea that the results should be available to all and I did not want any
possibility that someone could complain about lack of data protection if they
could be identified.

Any comments about the survey are welcomed as I would like to see it run much
more regularly so everyone can see how we are changing.

I suppose while I am writing I do have a question?
Has anyone produced a virtual machine containing an emulator that could be
moved from machine to machine, OS to OS?

[Ql-Users] flashing cursor

2010-02-17 Thread Dilwyn Jones

Unusual little help request...

Does anyone know if it's possible to get a flashing text cursor less
than 6x10 widexhigh on a QL?

Been asked by someone following my fonts articles in QL Today, who's
been trying to use smaller than usual character increments with a half
height font, something like this:

CHAR_INC #1,6,5

and finding that the cursor is twice the height of the printed
characters.

Personally I doubt it's possible unless there's a way to use a sprite
as a cursor or some such trick.

Minerva has inbuilt support for cursors with less height (it's
described somewhere in the manual). SMSQ/E v3 uses a sprite as the
cursor (it's one of the system sprites), therefore all forms can be
done.

These are all global settings however, not just for a single window.
