According to the Scribus WIKI, Calamus files can be read into Scribus.

So you should be able to continue creating QL Today in calamus and have
**someone else** with the time and inclination, create a Scribus file
from your calamus output.

Wonder if it works?

Mine arrived here in Switzerland today. So for me it's QL Today, for many of
you it's already QL yesterday. I will have a first read later on today.

I don't raise the question of how can it be that it takes 11 days longer for
Austrian/Swiss post to ship from Austria to Switzerland than it took from
Austria to Canada. In those 11 days I could walk to where Jochen sent it of
easily.

Well, there we have it. The ultimate cost-saver for Jochen. He would
be able to walk all over Europe to drop off copies knowing that in
most cases he'd get there quicker than the postal services could

I wonder too if it works - and how - especially as the fonts I use are
licensed to my Calamus serial number.

If anyone wants to have a go - I am happy to provide a small CDK file
containing only a few pages, to keep it small.

Cheers Jochen

Ah well, we tried.

I mistakenly thought that Scribus could import Calamus document files,
but it was actually Calamus Vector Graphics files. I have tried (you
need Scribus 1.3.5 or greater) and although it does import these files,
it doesn't display them in the document or the output pdf.

This is a shame but it looks like Scribus is not going to help us out
here. :-(

Cheers,
Norman.

Yes please. I've just installed the latest Scribus on my laptop, so I'll
happily try it out.

Who said anything about PAYING for the travelling? You're WALKING - a
few good pair of shoes is all you need (and some friends at the border
checkpoints maybe).

Yes, I know... I even used it three times and went back using the
ferries - cheaper, more flexible ... well, until they decided to add
high surcharges when you reached the ferry EARLIER than planned.

I guess if anybody attempts to get into the tunnel by foot,
he will be locked away, being treated as terrorist or illegal immigrant...

Not to forget that the tunnel is quite dangerous - flying doors every
now and then ... I remember that happened an hour or two later to a
train after we used the channel tunnel the second time.
