Couldn't install PROWESS PROFORMA
Progammes that lock when trying to open a file:
SUQ205N.obj (current version of SUQCESS)
QLDBAS.OBJ (my own frontend for DBAS-files)
BMP.OBJ
…
The above Progs are all Easymenu/EasyPr . Incompatibility with
SMSQMULATOR or bug in EasyPtr or am I missing something?

I have tested two of the programs:

LineDesign gives a QLib error message:

Can't find PWS library in ProWesS

BMP.OBJ also doesn't load files.

So far these are the only two programs I have found that give
problems, but I have only started looking at my own QXL. WIN file this
week,

Best wishes,

Geoff

This may be down to the file type - Prowess added various new
(non-standard) filetypes to the header - maybe you are not storing these?

[Ql-Users] Printing from XCHANGE

2013-02-04 Thread Bryan Horstmann

Hello all,

Printing from XCHANGE

My printer has parallel interface.
For QL, a ser/parallel convertor is fine.
PC XCHANGE in DOSBOX on W2000 laptop with parallel O/P printed ok.

Current VISTA laptop USB only. USB/parallel convertor works fine
generally.

PC XCHANGE in DOSBOX full screen. How can I get it to print out to USB?
Also from SMSQmulator? Xchange and any other little programs I enter?

I use DOS command:

net use lpt1 \\machine name\printer share name for windows printers.

Maybe that could be adapted for your printer.

It though probably only works for DOS programs.

This would mean that my SQRview program will most likely (for now) fail as
well.
This shares some code and techniques with BMP, where the file is partly
read to verify that it is a valid image file, before claiming memory and
loading the whole file.

Bad news I am afraid. SQRview does not load, but gives a QLib error
message - genuine this time ;-):

QLib error 29 string is not numeric,

Geoff, can you be more specific?
Does the program not start, or doesn't it load the picture?
It ran without problems (almost) in the test Wolfgang did.
What kind of picture, does this contain padding?
The padding issue is already solved in the upgrade I am working on.
If it is the pic, please send me the problem file to test.

Hi,

I don't see that error message here, SQRview loads and saves PIC and BMP
files correctly.

[Ql-Users] SMSQmulator

2013-02-04 Thread Wolfgang Lenerz

Hi all,

I've put up a new version of SMSQmulator, even though the version
numbering hasn't changed.

In this version:

BMP.OBJ works.

SQreview works but when pictures are loaded as pic, the colours are
wrong (they are ok in 64 or 16 mode).

Prowess works, but the Prowess loader doesn't.

Normally prowess uses a special loader.

I use the following procedure, knowing that all things prowess are in a
directory called dev1_prowess_, the config files are in a directory
dev1_prowess_mine, prowess itself is in a dir dev1_prowess_pw and
proforma in a dir prowess_pf.

If you use other dirs, adjust the program to suit

100 DEFine PROCedure p
110 :
120 REMark Set the directory all prowess things are in.
130 prowess_dir$=dev1_prowess_
140 :
150 REMark First set environment variable
160   PRINT Setting variable...;
170 EX prowess_dir$prg_setenv;PWSDIR prowess_dir$
180 PAUSE 100
190 PRINT -- done
200 :
210 REMark start proforma and wait until it's loaded
220   PRINT Starting Proforma...;
230 EX prowess_dir$pf_PROforma;prowess_dir$mine
240 PAUSE 100
250 PRINT -- done
260 :
270 REMark start prowess and wait until it's loaded
280   PRINT Starting Prowess...;
290 EX prowess_dir$pw_ProWesS;prowess_dir$mine
300 PAUSE 100
310 PRINT -- done
320 PRINT - ALL DONE -
330 END DEFine p
340 :

With this my prowess progs, and also Linedesign work.

You can get this small boot prog into SMSQmulator with the JVASGET
command, which gets things from the systems clipboard into the SCRAP
things (see the manual).

The fact that the prowess loader program doesn't work seems to indicate
an error in the emulation core itself somewhere.

As this loader program seems to be a C program, finding the error will
not be trivial. Since I can load Prowess my way, this is not so high
on the list of priorities right now...

It works from the ram disc, so it's probably a problem with your
device drivers.

Thanks, but I'm not sure I understand - the loader program works from a

Here it does. Unlike WIN, where nothing seems to happen, it starts up
fine when everything is copied to ram1_

Stranger and stranger.

From what I can see, the loader prog opens the startup file indicated
in the command line, reads its header twice and then goes away.

What's the command line you use to start up the loader?

The program itself was not loading. Given that other people are having no
difficulties it could be something in my boot program. For test purposes I
am using the same qxl.win that I use for QPC2. Also I have not yet
downloaded the latest version of SMSQmulator.

I'll have a look at both things eventually, but I am not sure when as I am
pushed for time at the moment.

So far most things I have tried seem to be working satisfactorily including
my Just Words! programs, although I still have some to check,

Best wishes,

Geoff
