Re: [Ql-Users] USB disk drive
I use a Iomega USB floppy drive together with my Laptop and QPC2. Works perfectly. Installs itself as drive A: in Windows, QPC accepts this as flp1_. There is absolutely no difference to a legacy a: drive. Tobias Thank you Tobias (and everyone else who replied, both off an on list). This should answer the query raised by the Quanta member. Nice to know that we can get good answers for the Helpline from this list :-) -- Dilwyn Jones ___ QL-Users Mailing List http://www.q-v-d.demon.co.uk/smsqe.htm
[Ql-Users] USB disk drive
Does anyone haveexperience of using an external USB floppy disk drive on a laptop for use with a QL emulator? My memory of these is that they present themselves as the normal drive A: or B: on a PC, so should be readily accessible to QPC, QL2K, QemuLator etc. Can anyone confirm this, or that this is not the case? Re: [ql-users] USB Disk drive
Hi David, May not be the problem, consider that some drives put more power into a write, and some are more sensitive in a read. Yes, I know. In old QL-days I had a twin drive, which sometimes gave unpredictable results on some disks. Later on the Atari, the drives a a bit better. But nevertheless, I had similar experiences with native DOS disks not readable on one PC but on another one under DOS or WIN. You could try doing a disccopy in MSDOS, or copying on a QDOS machine to bring a fresh disk to the USB DD I have tried that on my USB drive. It failed but worked on the PC of my wife 8^).
