However, the sneaky thing about QT is that it allows me to save a text document in HTML or TEXT whihc is quite useful. Thanks to all who replied. My problem was, I'm doing the lunch hour work on the new QStripper and I have to strip out those characters which require translating for HTML - the pound sign, for example, is translated to 'amp;' and so on.
